The Cathedral of the Assumption is located in the historic center of Dubrovnik, near the Rector’s Palace, and has an architecture perfectly in line with the rest of the town. Originally built in the twelfth century, in place of pre-existing religious buildings, it took on its current Baroque forms with reconstruction in the late seventeenth century and early eighteenth following a strong earthquake that had almost completely destroyed it.

La catedral de Dubrovnik es bonita y tiene mucha luz gracias a los tonos claros de su interior. La fachada por fuera es también muy bonita en su ornamentación con una cúpula llamativa. Tanto el interior como el exterior son de estilo barroco. Lo que más nos llamó la atención son las obras que representan el Via Cruzis. Compuesto por unas pinturas sobre fondo verde con pinceladas de colores en relieve combinado una técnica mixta muy interesante. Reflejan un avance pictórico que va del barroco de la catedral al desarrollo vanguardista de la ciudad de Dubrovnik. Sin duda le dan un toque especial y llamativo además de hermoso. Merece mucho la pena entrar para admirar estas obras tan curiosas y poco frecuentes.

Dubrovnik, Katedrala Velike Gospe, Nagyboldogasszony Katedrális, egy római katolikus katedrális ez a Dubrovniki Egyházmegye székhelye, a város legnagyobb temploma. jellemzője a magas hajó , melyet hatalmas oszlopok választanak el a két mellékhajótól, három apszis és egy grandiózus barokk kupola a hajó és a kereszthajók metszéspontjában. A főoltáron Tiziano szárnyas szobra látható, Szűz Mária mennybe menetelét ábrázolja. Ez a festmény valószínűleg 1552-ből származik, a mellékoltárokon későbbi századok olasz és dalmát mestereinek festményei láthatók.

Un magnifico esempio di barocco tardivo, con colonne corinzie, statue di santi (tra cui Sant’Erasmo e San Giuseppe) e un grande rosone decorato che illumina l’interno. La luce naturale che entra dalle finestre superiori crea un’atmosfera raccolta e suggestiva.
