After a long time of visiting michelin restaurants this was the worst possible food served on a plate, just don’t understand what the f… was that, my imagination stopped be reasonable.Well done was 3 plate of 9,all that was really good was waiter and location. I asked also unknown guest in the toilet what he thought about the food and he have totally the same opinions. I was so disappointed and in shock,I didn’t want see the chef, what I highly regret.

Just finished a wonderful dinner at Strelec at Ljubljana Castle. Our second Michelin star experience of the trip after Hisa Franko earlier this month. Don't ask what all this is... Just delicious, paired with beautiful wines and outstanding service. Beautiful sgraffito murals told stories of Slovenian folk heroes. The setting in Ljubljana Castle is stunning, as are the views!

We had a lovely 7-course dinner. Service was great, though a little slow in the beginning due to the presence of a large party. We had a wonderful table close to a wall. The dining room is in a round tower, with interesting fresco-style art. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. My favourite was probably this cauliflower and egg yolk dish with truffle but all of them felt seasonal and tasted great. The smoked trout dish was another standout. Desserts were not too sweet (good!) though rhubarb makes me think June, not October. That’s the only non-seasonal note I detected. Overall, I can highly recommend this place and would like to return at another time of year to see what the Chef comes up with.

This restaurant was phenomenal. We are vegetarian and we had a 5 course tasting that was extraordinary. We also had 2 appetizers and 2 deserts.included in Wine pairing for each course with a waiter who was charming, knowledgeable and knew just when to serve each course. The restaurant is in a room on the top of the castle that makes you feel Royal and other worldly. There is literally nothing to say that could be improved on. Make sure to make a reservation many months in sfcsnce go secure this awesome dining experience.

Had a 9pm reservation and I arrived a bit early and they were able to accomodate me on the terrasse. It was quite a nice setting, right at the exit of the funicular station with a view on the bell tower on one side and Ljubljana on the other side. Waiters were dressed en livrée and looked very professional.  It took a while for the waiter to come back to provide menu and explanation. They offer a tasting menu of 5 or 7 dishes with the opportunity for a wine pairing. You can also choose a la carte. The night I dined, the option were fish or lamb for the main and I went for the lamb. To start off the meal there were some complimentary amuse bouche provided. It was a declinaison of pâté, Chicken pâté in the form of a cherry covered by a cherry and beetroot gelée, foie gras mousse and a third in a half mini onion. A second set of amuse bouche was a declinaison around trout, a trout espuma and a trout dumpling. First dish was a venison tartare marinated in Barolo, wrapped in light pickle topinambur with a hazelnut cream. Very good combo. Second dish was a cauliflower, poached egg and truffle combo. 3rd dish was a declinaison on pepper, followed by the main the lamb and a delicious peach based dessert that was amazing for us fruit based dessert lovers out there (#tiredofchocolate). I really the setting was lovely (take a date there if you want to impress) and so was the service as for the food I did not enjoy some of the combination but the wine pairing made up for it.

This is an amazing experience and a must when in Ljubljana! The food is incredible and world-class! Every dish was better than the next, complex, interesting, and delicious! The service was great, our host really took care of everyone and made sure our experience was perfect. This was one of our favorite experiences on our trip so far.
