Le doy 1 estrella por qué no hay menos, son unos estafadores, alquilo un coche desde una app con seguro, y ellos sin informarte de nada te cobran un seguro adicional, que te pasan el cargo cuando estás ya es tu casa unos días después sin hacerlo en el momento de firmar la fianza, no recomiendo esta empresa de alquiler de coches son unos estafadores

Una estafa reservamos a través de booking con todo pagado y después del alquiler nos cobraron un seguro que no nos informaron a través del depósito. Actuaron de mala fe, no nos avisaron de contratar un seguro adicional y lo pusieron en el contrato sin avisar, no firmes nada con ellos sin leer todo. No te avisan de cargos ocultos.

Typically short sighted rip off business model. Rented a Mazda 3 for 2 weeks. Got a flat tire after week 1. Being an honest person and because it's unsafe for the next renter to play dumb, instead of spraying in some fix-a-flat from the local car part store and playing dumb, I used the fix-a-flat kit in the car and returned it to report the flat and exchange the car. Was charged EUR1240 for 1 flat tire. Turned a $200 rental into ~$2000 rental. Then, when I returned to US got a duplicate charge on my credit, making it a ~$3000 rental. I get it that in old commie criminal Yugo days that was considered smart business practice but management could have shown some business common sense and charged less than $1500 for a tire that costs $100. And, not double charged. The point is to have happy repeat car rental customers at this happy car rental business that survives entirely on foreign tourists, no? Was a loyal customer for 20+ years. Will never rent here again.

Budget charged me over €1,000 for a few light scratches that were already on the car when I picked it up. I took detailed photos and video before driving off, so I have proof. They never even notified me—just took the money. Thankfully, I had insurance, but this kind of shady behavior is unacceptable. Do NOT book with them unless you want to be ripped off. Absolutely disgraceful!

The best I can say is that they had a working rental. However, this is the worst rental agency for Budget or any rental I have been to. The staff, especially those inside the terminal, don't care about customer service at all. Rent at any other agency here instead of this Budget/Avis. o cars don't match descriptions o no washer fluid o worst car I have ever received, can barely make it up hill and zero modern amenities (no ability to connect phone, no backup cam, no cruise control, etc. I'm actually surprised it has power steering.)

Stvarno losa agencija. Puno puta u godini iznajmijem auto u zagrebu i nikad problema nisam imo. i skoro sam prvi put sa avis 4 dana iznajmijo u maiu. Naj losi service za musterije ikad. Ja cekam 45 dana deposit sto mi jos nije vracen(1100 eura). Niko nece pomogne, nit hoce da vrate pare, ne odgovaraju na mail, tlf. Bjezi te sto dalje od ovi sto kradu od naroda. Hold dere unna dette selskapet. Tyver, stjeler folks penger, vil ikke svare på henvendelser, bare svada svar. Venter 45 dager på depositum enda, 12000kr som jeg ikke har fått tilbake.

Vorsicht! Auto war ganz anders als gebucht – alte Karre statt das was im Vertrag stand. Farbe anders, innen dreckig, kleiner als gebucht und richtig alt. Preis am schluss fast doppelt so hoch wie zuerst gesagt. Fühlte mich total verarscht. Nie wieder!

Several days after returning the car outside office hours, 680 euro was charged to my credit card without any notification or explanation - more than three times the price of the (already prepaid) rental itself. It was only when I contacted Avis Budget Croatia that the reasons became apparent: a scratch between 26 and 50mm big was found on the plastic back bumper. Many rental companies ignore scratches smaller than 50mm because they are considered normal wear and tear after 13 days of rental (especially on the back bumper whose function is precisely to protect the rest of the vehicle) - but not Avis Budget Croatia. (Hint: go to Enterprise Rent a Car at the same airport, they ignore everything under 50mm, even on the metal parts of the car). So, how did we arrive at 680 euro for this scratch? I fully accept that I am responsible for damages that a rental company may suffer because of the depreciation of the vehicle value (in this case practically zero), or because of the inability to continue renting the vehicle (which they did charge as On the Ground Vehicle Idle Time - and which I accepted to pay), or because of actually repairing the damage. The invoice they sent me was for a repair. The repair costs in this case, on top of which more than 200 euro of additional fees and charges was added, were 469 euro which suggests a complete replacement of the back bumper. When I asked for a proof of this they openly acknowledged that no repair has taken place because the vehicle was very busy being rented out. An invoice for goods or services undelivered is fictitious and fraudulent in every jurisdiction of the world, but when alerted to this fact Avis Budget Croatia remained unbothered by it. It seems that their practice is to invoice the full cost of repair for each scratch - but without actually repairing each scratch. Whether they repair all the scratches at the end of the season, or at some point, or simply resell the vehicle as a normal used car, I don't know. But I will never again partake in this obviously fraudulent practice and I advise all potential renters - even those with Avis membership - to avoid Avis Budget in Croatia. P.S. Yes, I could have avoided it all by buying a lot of insurance they offered to sell me. But it would be like buying insurance against wolf bites from a wolf.

Horrible service and many extra charges outside the original booking. On the top; a basic thing like the wipers which are very important in Europe are not well maintained. Staff were unprofessional and not interested to help and reception desk staff were interested to introducing extras and extras; I ended up paying 600 euros above the original booking and the window has issues and the wipers were not working properly. I’m truly disappointed with the service and surprise how a global franchise like Avis manages business this way

Achtung! Betrüger! ⭐ 1 Stern Leider eine sehr schlechte Erfahrung. Bei der Abholung wurde mir gesagt, dass meine Kreditkarte „nicht funktioniert“, obwohl sie überall sonst problemlos funktioniert hat – offenbar, um mir eine extrem teure Zusatzversicherung zu verkaufen. Diese kostete mehr als das Doppelte des eigentlichen Mietpreises inklusive bereits gebuchter Premiumversicherung. Wir kamen kurz vor Geschäftsschluss an – ohne diese Zusatzversicherung hätte man uns das Auto nicht gegeben. Der Vertrag war auf Kroatisch und in winziger Schriftgröße – eine echte Kontrolle war nicht möglich. Die Atmosphäre war von Anfang an angespannt: Der Mitarbeiter war bereits in ein lautstarkes Streitgespräch mit einer anderen Kundin verwickelt. Da wurde mir klar, wie man hier offenbar arbeitet. Das Ganze fühlte sich wie Erpressung an: „Zahl extra – oder kein Auto“. Für ein internationales Unternehmen absolut unwürdig. Einziger Lichtblick: Der Kundenservice in Deutschland war sehr freundlich, konnte aber leider nichts mehr tun, da der Vertrag bereits unterschrieben war. Nie wieder.

Like so many others noted here, I also had multiple unexplained charges show up on my credit card without my authorization, above and beyond the rental amount. Attempts to contact the company for an explanation were fruitless. Similarly, attempts to contact the HQ customer service in the US for Avis led nowhere. Even received one email claiming I never rented a car from them at all!! Dispute the amounts with your credit card company. And for anyone thinking of it: avoid Payless/Avis like the plague!

SCAM, SCAM, SCAM Alert !!!! I had a very disappointing experience with Avis at Zagreb Airport, Croatia. After returning the rental car, I was surprised to find an unexpected charge of €250 on my credit card. The problem began when the Avis representative at the counter added extra services—Total CDW, Super PAI, and TP charges—to my rental agreement without my knowledge or consent. These were never discussed or explained. I was asked to sign the contract electronically, and trusting that no unauthorized charges would be made, I did so. It was only after returning the car that I discovered the additional charges. I had already purchased full coverage insurance through Zurich Insurance when booking via Booking.com. Thankfully, Booking.com refunded the insurance cost, but I'm still trying to recover the €250 wrongly charged by Avis. I strongly advise anyone renting from Avis Croatia to carefully review every detail before signing anything and to be cautious of hidden or unauthorized charges. This experience has left me deeply disappointed in a company I previously trusted.
