Our Mission
Crowther Lab studies global ecosystems to generate knowledge aimed at protecting biodiversity and countering climate change. Our interdisciplinary team of scientists investigates the intricate relationships between biodiversity and climate, building a scientific foundation to empower communities to restore and protect Earth’s ecosystems.
Key Focus Areas
The lab is committed to delivering actionable insights through:
- Integrated Global Forest Assessment: Analyzing forests’ potential to capture up to 226 Gigatonnes of carbon while emphasizing the necessity of emissions reductions.
- Community-driven Ecosystem Restoration: Encouraging the protection of existing forests and the reconnecting of fragmented landscapes.
- Diversity in Species: Promoting a variety of species as critical to maximize carbon sequestration potential.
