Laboratory for Cardiometabolic Research
The Laboratory for Cardiometabolic Research at the Medical Faculty of Split is dedicated to exploring the intricate relationships between metabolic and immune disorders, such as obesity, diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, and cardiovascular diseases. Headed by Dr. Marko Kumrić, the lab investigates how various serum biomarkers can predict cardiovascular outcomes in conditions like heart failure and hypertension.
The lab's research includes a significant focus on how lifestyle changes affect cardiovascular health, particularly the impact of Cannabidiol (CBD) on arterial pressure and vascular health. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, part of the lab's efforts have shifted to studying the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with severe cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
