Séjour fantastique. Chambre impeccable. Hôtesse très sympathique et à l'écoute de nos besoins. Très bien situé à l'extérieur des murs de la vieille ville et à 10 minutes de marche.

My partner and I stayed at House Boninovo in Dubrovnik for four nights. We walked from the offical shuttle bus drop-off in Old City to the hotel. There are options to take a taxi and/or Uber, but my partner and I wanted to save a few Euros. If you have suitcases, I would not recommend. Luckily, I used my hiking bag and only had a carry-on suitcase, but even then that was annoying to roll throughout busy and narrow sidewalks. The host, Lidija, and her dog, Arraya (spelling), were absolutely incredible. Lidija reached a day before check-in to ask on our arrival time, since she wanted to make sure our room was ready. Upon arrival, she warmly greeted us, took one of our luggages, and showed us to our room. There are only stairs and not elevators, so keep that in mind. She made sure the guests were comfortable and content by catering to their needs and/or issues. Arraya stays primarily on the terrace, but don’t be alarmed if she greets you at the door! She is the sweetest, softest, and dare I say, the best dog in Dubrovnik. Our room (202) was positioned at the top of the first set of stairs. It is spacious for one traveler and enough space for two. We could not hear people leaving or arriving late at night, in fact, the other guests we saw were primarily 50 years old and plus. Each room has a color theme—which I greatly enjoyed, and everything placed in the room was on theme. We had enough space to store one hiking backpack, one regular backpack, one carry-on, and one check-luggage. Our room had a tea tray with various types of tea—green, English breakfast, lemon and ginger, etc.; accompanied by an electric kettle, two coffee cups, sugar canister, instant coffee packets (do not recommend), and two hazelnut wafers. The tea tray was atop the mini-fridge. Near the chairs there is a sweet tray on a glass table and a cabinet to hold clothes and/or luggage. The space is appreciated and valuable when traveling with others. However, there was only one outlet, behind the glass table, for us to charge all of our electric devices. A bit annoying, but a good way to not doomscroll before bed. The air conditioner is intense, so you don’t need it set low, we had it set to 20c / 70f at night. The bed is a bit flat and stiff. Every time my partner toss and turn, it felt as if he was flopping around like a fish out of water. The mattress could use a topper or an upgrade. The bathroom was cute and had cabinets to store toiletry products. Plenty of body towels, but no washcloths or hand towels. My one enemy throughout our stay was the shower. I am 5’2 and 115 pounds—unsure on the equivalent in metric; and I felt a bit cramped in the shower. Each time I bent down, my bum would be burned from the shower knob and accidentally turn the shower off. Furthermore, the host does provide shampoo and conditioner, but no body wash. Luckily, I had my own soap from previous travels with me. Lastly, there is only one tiny bathroom trashcan for the entire room. If you prefer to eat breakfast in (i.e., fruit or protein bar) Or you’re a late-night snacker, the trashcan is not ideal for longterm stay. We had a produce bag we used as a makeshift trash-bag. An additional larger trashcan would be perfect. The room was clean, but since our room was situated at the top of the stairs, some bug would come in. The main doors to the hotel are kept open (nearly) all day and night, so a few bugs made there way in. Although, very minimal amount (two ants and two spiders). The location is perfect for those that prefer to stray away from the heavy tourist areas, but close enough to visit. Central to Port Gruz and Old Town Port by walking or taking the city bus. There are a few food spots just around the corner on Pera Čingrije street—highly recommend Otto for cheap, delicious food; along with a nearby pharmacy and a nice park. Overall, I would recommend House Boninovo if you’re a simple traveler.
