BELIEVE THE HYPE! Honestly. Like my other reviews, sometimes it's hard for me to want to queue, just based on Instagram Hype or whatever. But like FurgBurger in Queenstown & Chun Café inAmsterdam, Trattoria Carmen truly is worth the wait. The queue is really well managed, especially as you can get served your drink of choice whilst you wait. Nothing like 3x cold, crisp glasses of local wine to pass the time (and a nice breeze blows down the street, despite the heat outside the walls of the city) The food was impeccable. Al-Dente pasta, made with love. You cannot go wrong with any of them. We had a mix of the Red Pesto & Burrata and the Green Pesto & Truffle. What a combo. Our host was fabulous, with incredible English (something you will see a lot of in the city) and a real passion for food. 100% recommend this to anyone. Ours was a 1.5hr wait. But it was worth every minute, especially as you are/can be, somewhat enebriated by the time you get served 😂🍷 Thank you guys! We will be back!

Food was fresh and so tasty! I ordered pasta and pizza which were both DELICIOUS. First time in Dubrovnik and had my eye on this place. So glad it did not disappoint! Service was excellent and friendly :)

Trattoria Carmen has a rustic, old-world charm that fits perfectly with the vibe of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. We stumbled upon it while wandering the alleyways—drawn in by the glowing reviews online. They don’t take reservations, and we didn’t have one anyway. There was about a 40-minute wait, but the staff managed the line well and kept things moving. Honestly, the wait was more than worth it. The service was warm, fast, and friendly. And the food? Absolutely delicious. One of the best pastas I’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with a glass of local wine. Prices based on the location, quantity and quality of the food were also quite justified! No complaints at all. This place lives up to the hype.

Trattoria Carmen — My Hidden Gem in Dubrovnik Honestly, I wasn’t planning to write a review or post any photos this time—some places are too special to share. I’ve eaten here every single day during my stay in Dubrovnik, and it’s been a soul-satisfying experience every time. The restaurant is always full, day or night, with people lining up for a reason. The food? Unbelievable. Fresh seafood straight from the Adriatic—right outside the restaurant. The catch of the day is always a standout, from perfectly pan-seared sea bass and sea bream to spicy prawns, tender mussels, and pasta with shrimp and black truffle that’s pure indulgence. The vibrant salads, creamy pesto bruschetta… words honestly don’t do them justice. But what truly makes this place unforgettable is the warmth. Ivana and her family pour their hearts into every dish, every table, every guest. You can feel the love they have for what they do—from early morning to late at night. Ivana is a rare soul: welcoming, intuitive, and full of kindness. Every time I see her, it feels like coming home. She always took care of me without me saying a word—she just knew. That kind of connection is rare. Part of me doesn’t want to write any of this, because once places like this get discovered, things can change. But Trattoria Carmen deserves the love—because it is love, in its purest, most delicious form.

First I've spent the last 5 days in Dubrovnik so I've had the opportunity to experience their hospitality. Happened a couple times to me but no issue anywhere else. Tried to use the restroom before ordering food and was denied. Asked why and was told I have to order before. Seems ridiculous that a paying customer can't use the restroom before ordering food. Never had the opportunity to eat but with the million other places I would simply go somewhere else.
