As a local I’ve given this place many chances to impress me. I sadly can’t report anything besides the nice atmosphere and good location. The dishes are packed with ‘impressive’ ingredients and ‘trending’ foods but combined in a way the taste is gone all together. I understand there is such a thing as personal taste and must mention that I also never met a person that liked their food combinations. It’s my belief that such nice places shouldn’t rely on ‘just a pretty view’ and ‘instagramability and should improve their menu and listen to the customers regarding their food!

Ottimo pranzo in una via tranquilla e silenziosa. Piatti ricercati e con ottimi sapori. Si nota la cura nella preparazione. Cameriere gentili e cordiali. Ottimo vino bianco (chardonnay). Consigliato, non ve ne pentirete.

Di gran lunga il miglior posto dove mangiare a Lubiana. Fuori dalle classiche salsicce varie Slovene. Ha una cucina fatta di ingredienti freschi con uno stile fusion spettacolare. Vini naturali Sloveni buonissimi, prezzi decisamente onesti e servizio rapido e gentile. Tutto perfetto!!! Bravi davvero!

This was the best meal we have had since coming to Europe 3 months ago. First of all it was a surprise as many other restaurants were full and we ended here. What a blessing - the food was awesome with fantastic flavours and eclectic menu choices. If we were being hypercritical the staff seemed to be so busy as to be not coping and some music to add to the ambiance in the street. Would have been welcomed. Overall this restaurant has to be on your must-visit list for Ljubljana. We wish them great success.

It was a really hot day and the sign said, “come in to get cool!” Little did I know that this restaurant was the best kept secret in town. The food was authentic and bursting with flavor. What a treat!

After weeks in central Europe, this was by far the healthiest meal I had. (True, nobody was forcing me to subsist solely on pretzels and wursts but what are you really going to do when every corner you pass has a wurstelstand) Healthiest doesn't always mean tastiest (especially compared to the aforementioned wursts), but luckily everything at Gostilna Vida was sublime and then some. Definitely a popular place despite it's end of the road location, so book in advance or be patient (always), maybe have some wine or coffee next door, it's really up to you.
