It is capital church in Maribor (bishop seat) the church is named in honor of John the baptist. The church was most likely built before 1150. The main body of the church is built in romance style, but through the ages there was a lot of restructuring. Today the church has a lot of gothic features which were added in the second half of 19. century.

Občasno je v cerkvi organizirano krasno petje. V kolikor tega ni je maša pusta. Duhovniki so v primerjavi z Ljubljano bolj odprti in tolerantni. Občutek imam da je gospodarstvo zelo slabo vpljivalo na obisk sv.maš. Kar tako naprej
