If you’re visiting Hvar, this place is an absolute must-stay. I had an amazing experience. If you’re coming from the center of the Old Town, there’s a taxi boat that drops you off at the beginning of the promenade leading to Maslina. The taxi boat costs only €2 one way and runs roughly every hour. If you’re arriving by ferry, it’s just a short and pleasant walk to get there. Huge thanks to Tamara for being such a great host and for showing how places like this truly offer the most professional staff and service unlike any other. Also worth mentioning is that the staff are mostly multilingual or even polyglots — with Tamara speaking even Arabic being the cherry on top. A lovely lady, a beautiful resort, and a peaceful stay. I visited this evening for dinner. This was my first visit in several years (as the last had been extremely disappointing). On arrival your small car park was full, so I decided to park on the road, as I've seen others do. Your security guard was quick to tell me I could not park there, and seemed amused that I thought it would be ok. He directed me to park in a space to the right of the road, which I did. On returning to my car, you had placed a note saying "maslina resort parking" and asking me to move my vehicle. The height of rudeness when I was a customer at your restaurant and had been told to park there. When it came to ordering in the restaurant, it transpired that we'd been given the wrong menu, so what we wanted to order wasn't available. On the plus side, the food we ordered from the other menu was lovely. After dinner we decided to relocate to the bar for another drink. After sitting there for 10 minutes without anyone coming to take our order, we had to order from the bar. As local residents, and part of a fairly large expat community, this level of service is what everyone seems to have experienced at some point at Maslina. Such a shame.

Maslina is a gem in the Adriatic Sea. It has everything you would expect and more from a five star beachfront Relais & Chateaux property. Service is impeccable and knowledgeable. I have three key highlights. First, it’s an intimate property with a high ratio of staff to guests. There are only 50 rooms in the whole resort! You feel like you have your own space to wander, yet there’s a Maslina team member always nearby. The culinary team provides fantastic meals and signature cocktails. The produce they source is really fresh. The design and theme evokes eco friendliness which is a contrast to the typically ostentatious resorts that show up alongside Maslina in lists. Second, the boat tour is a must do. I’ve been around boats my whole life, and I’ve never been on such a perfectly executed tour. The Colnago 45ft jet boats are built for the Adriatic Sea as they zoom fast over choppy waters. Also, because the boats are built so well (by a Croatian shipbuilder, which is a nice touch) you’re zooming from Hvar Town to the Pakleni Islands much faster than others because you can take a direct route opposed to staying close to shore. Every time the boat pull into a harbor or cove, it’s legitimately the best boat for its length. The Captain: Ivan, is one of the most brilliant drivers I’ve encountered. As a Croat, he knows the seas like the back of his hand. I noticed he makes subtle adjustments to the direction boat when encountering waves to minimize bouncing, which is an art that is not easily learned. Frankly, it takes decades on the water to learn how to navigate a boat a well as him. His first mate, also Ivan keeps the drinks flowing and helps execute docking and anchoring flawlessly. As a captain myself, I have a critical eye when it comes to boat tours. The one my wife and I went on with the Ivans was flawless, fun, and the perfect day on the sea. Finally, and most importantly: the staff here are proud of their resort. They want you to have fun, experience Croatian culture, and walk away with the best experience. I’ve been to resorts that are cash grabs where corners are being cut every which way to maximize profit. Maslina is furthest from that, where no expense is spared by the resort and ownership to ensure that guests have the best possible experience. My wife and I would like to thank the Maslina team for providing the perfect start to our honeymoon. We hope to visit again soon.

Words cannot express how wonderful my family and I have found the Maslina. “Mindful Luxury” is the motto and while this could sound pretentious the resort isn’t pretentious at all. Every detail has been attended to thoughtfully. |Batu at the front desk is a special person and helped make our stay memorable. He recommended restaurants, made reservations and assisted with taxi’s and advice as well as being genuinely lovely and thoughtful with our children. All the staff are a real credit and nothing seems too much or troublesome to them.|There are 2 delightful, heated pools with ample, comfy loungers, cushions and towels. There are bathing platforms build into the sea. There are private cabanas on the beach.|Gym was brilliant with modern, brand new equipment and a stunning view. The rest of the wellness centre was also wonderful. The morning yoga was a true practice with an experienced instructor and my massage was incredible. There are a wide variety of fitness / wellness classes on offer.|Our suite was outstanding with the most comfortable beds, outstanding sea views, fully stocked complimentary mini bars, French press coffee, robes, Japanese bath, rainfall shower etc etc. I can’t list everything! I’d be here all day.|Finally the breakfast was truly amazing- as you’d expect from the Maslina!

This property is beyond exceptional. ||The food, decor and staff are all truly fabulous. |From the moment you arrive nothing is a problem. |Batu and all the staff there are so welcoming and friendly. ||We had a panoramic pool suite which was very spacious and beautifully decorated. |You never see or hear the house keeping. The rooms are just serviced morning and night when you are not there. |There is a small mini bar fridge and the first consumption of all the drinks was complimentary. |After that I believe you would need to pay. ||The dinner meal was one of the best we have had in Croatia. ||The wellness centre has a gym, plunge pool, sauna, steam plus lots of activities like yoga. |And a spa treatment room. |Or you can relax at the beach or pool. The pool is nicely heated so you can swim for a long time. ||The town of Stari Grad is a short bike ride away and is the prettiest quaint little town. |We did not want to leave.

This is a disappointing review of the MASLINA RESORT, HVAR Croatia which my wife and I spent three nights this week as part of our vacation. We splurged and spent over Euro$1K per night for three nights to stay in the premium ground floor room (Suite 52) with plunge pool and we were thrilled to arrive. On arrival, as we entered our suite we were greeted by a rush of ANTS scattering - hundreds of ants covering the cabinets - and at our horror and the apparent horror of our host, they asked us to leave so they could take care of it. From morning to night every subsequent day, we continued to request that housekeeping take care of the continued ant problem, and staff always appeared to look surprised like this had never happened. They were everywhere - out in the plunge pool, in the cabinets, in my wife’s makeup bag - it was disappointing that their staff knew this was a problem but always agreed with us that this was terrible and that it just happens. We tried to be polite during our stay, but this is now our memory and our stay at the MASLINA RESORT in HVAR. At checkout, they asked me if our stay was excellent - and I reminded them they have an ANT infestation problem in Suite 52 and they should not be charging the premiums for a room they know has ants. They should shut it down and fix the problem, as future guests will be more upset and louder than we were. I also expressed my disappointment that they hadn’t offered a solution - to move us to another room, and the host said there was no availability they could offer us - but there wasn’t even a gesture made to us in the form of a smaller room, or another neighboring hotel. There was no acknowledgement. I told them I wasn’t asking for anything or a discount, but she said she couldn’t do anything because we had already pre-paid over thousands of Euros for three nights - but she would talk to her manager about the problem and see what they could do in terms of how we were charged for a problematic room. Again, I never asked for a discount but she offered to make some form of gesture- I told her I was mostly not happy with how they handled it and they shouldn’t be selling that room with an insect infestation that they clearly knew about. At the very least and I was reassured, I would hear from her manager - a gesture of good will, by the end of the day - offered by their reception. Nothing. It is now three days later and I haven’t heard anything, so let it be known that the MASLINA RESORT - as beautiful as it is - doesn't give a damn about you and how you feel or how you will share this experience. We know a lot of people in NYC - we travel a lot on other people’s recommendations, the MASLINA RESORT was recommended by our travel agent as one of the best (we will certainly let her know otherwise) - and we wanted to share our experience if you were considering a stay here. When you go on vacation and stay at the finest hotels, you expect a good experience, but at THE MASLINA RESORT they took away the Oasis we are all looking forward to - an escape from the day-to-day, spending too much on drinks, enjoying each other’s company, etc, but this disappointing experience reminded us that, it is just a facade and a business just taking your money. Tough. So with that, do your due diligence and avoid this resort. Happy to discuss with anyone. Yes this happened. Stephen L.

We loved our stay at Maslina Resort! We arrived at the Stari Grad port and had a quick ride with our luggage on one of the Maslina golf carts. |The entrance/reception is so serene and the resort is on the most beautiful setting overlooking the sea. Our room was spectacular with a large balcony, great balcony and a stocked mini bar with complimentary drinks and snacks that were complimentary during our stay. The staff were exceptional answering any questions and assisting with reservations for dinner reservations and setting up our taxi transfer to Hvar Town. You can easily walk to the adorable town of Stari Grad from the resort. They have 2 pools which were kept at a perfect temperature and incredibly relaxing. There is also a Beach Club with lounge chairs/umbrellas and the sea was clear and calm (recommend wearing water shoes to protect your feet from the rocks). This resort has earned its Relais & Chateaux accreditation. We would not hesitate to come back and stay again.

Maslina resort is stunning - Batu was an incredible resort manager from the moment we walked in; he assisted with our bags, offered beverages, gave us a resort tour, and walked us through the amenities of our room and the spa. When we checked out, he personally gave us a ride to the Stari Grad ferry and assisted with our bags once again. The food was the best food we had in Croatia (we were at a few other hotels in Dubrovnik and other Hvar locations prior) and the service all around was perfect. We will definitely be back to Maslina again and look forward to seeing Batu again soon!

I had the pleasure of staying at MASLINA RESORT this past May while attending my cousin’s wedding—and I can confidently say it was one of the most exceptional hotel experiences I’ve ever had.||The Room:|I booked an ocean view room, and the moment I stepped in, I was floored. The near-panoramic view of the Adriatic Sea was absolutely breathtaking. The room was modern, elegant, and clearly designed with sustainability in mind. Details like the stunning bathtub and rain shower setup, as well as the thoughtful design touches throughout, made it feel like a private sanctuary. One of the best surprises? The first round of the minibar was completely complimentary—a small but meaningful gesture, especially after a 24+ hour journey to get there.||The Service:|Hands down, this is where MASLINA sets itself apart. The service was impeccable, arguably better than anything I’ve experienced at top-tier brands like the Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, or Andaz. Every staff member I interacted with was warm, professional, and spoke fluent English. Special mention must go to Mr. Batu, who greeted me at the front entrance with a refreshing towel and welcome drink, gave me a full tour of my room, and answered every question I had with genuine care. He even recommended a scenic running trail—something that meant a lot to me. Batu didn’t just provide service—he created a sense of comfort, as if I was staying with an old friend. He was extremely polite but at the same time above and beyond friendly. Honestly made me feel at home. At one point, he personally drove my family into town and picked us up when we were running late for our ferry. This is truly above-and-beyond hospitality. He truly deserves a raise, if not a promotion, for his above and beyond service.||The Vibe:|Since the resort was essentially taken over by wedding guests, there was a warm, celebratory atmosphere throughout the weekend. The surroundings are peaceful, beautifully designed, and perfectly in tune with the natural landscape. It’s ideal for a romantic getaway, a serene solo retreat, or—in my case—a family event with a touch of luxury.||Final Thoughts:|MASLINA RESORT is a rare gem—thoughtfully designed, flawlessly operated, and deeply committed to both luxury and authenticity. Yes, it’s pricey—but between the views, the service, and the overall experience, it was worth every euro. I’ll be dreaming of that Adriatic view (and Batu’s five-star hospitality) for a long time to come.

Maslina is the kind of place that slows your whole system down in the best way. The room and resort were beautiful and had so many intentional details that made it feel like someone actually cared how you’d experience it. The staff was wonderful.. especially Batu. He somehow knew exactly what we needed before we did. From personalized recommendations to just checking in at the right moments, it felt like we were visiting a friend who happened to be incredibly good at hosting. He’s a rare kind of human. Hard to describe it in one review, but this is the type of place that will follow us home.

We spent 5 nights at the Masalina resort in May 2025 and they were absolutely incredible. This was the end of an absolutely amazing 2 week vacation where we had stayed at other 5 star resorts and I was not sure Masalina could meet my expectations - it surpassed them!||Batu is an absolute gem- he greeted us at arrival and made sure our entire stay including all of our meals were mapped out to perfection. All of our transportation was arranged and we did not have to worry about a thing. All of the staff was so incredibly kind and friendly. The resort is beautiful and so peaceful which is exactly what we were looking for. ||The highlight of our trip was taking the new Masalina boat out for a full day private tour. What a way to see Hvar! If you can do it- it is absolutely the best experience. Ivan & Ivan took the best care of us and it was the highlight of our trip. ||We absolutely recommend the Masalina resort. If you go- have a lavender spritz!

This is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The service was exceptional. The room was spacious. The hotel is beautiful. Our room did not have a front row view, but we had a nice deck, and we were very happy. Stari Grad is a wonderful village...an easy (1 mile) walk from the hotel. The hotel is a five minute walk from the ferry. The pools were awesome as was the ocean access for swimming. We ate dinner at the hotel the first night....food was great...as were the breakfasts. Hvar City was a 25 minute scooter ride from the hotel over gorgeous mountains.

He took the time to get to know us personally, sharing wonderful stories and always ensuring we had everything we needed. His warmth and hospitality made a lasting impression.||We were initially hesitant about staying here due to the distance from Hvar Town, but after experiencing the charm and tranquility of Stari Grad, we had no desire to leave. It’s a far more peaceful and authentic part of the island.||If you’re visiting the area, I couldn’t recommend this hotel more. It’s easily the best place to stay on the island.
