Negative Review could have been avoided if the GM had the respect & decency to ever take the time to write back to me, after I wrote this Hotel over 5X without reply. Shocking to completely ignore me-hence the negative review as follows: . |Unfortunately this Kempinski is not up to par and no way should be part of the Kempinski Hotel chain. It "may" be 5 stars, but that is only, only due to the fact that are no other 5 star proper hotels nearby, that is if you wish to visit this part of he country, which I would not recommend either, except for the fact that it is nearby to Croatia and Trieste, Italy ( only one hour-each). To begin: 1st off I work in the Media and had long before making the reservations had made that clear. We had asked for a tour of the storied old hotel, and upon arrival, there was no mention of my work nor was that ever even ackowledged, nor was I ever offered any tour of the property or hotel during my entire stay. She later said 'I didn't reach out to HER" Hahha Next, while the Suite was indeed nice, the view is nothing special and looks out to a large unappealing water view. The stores across the street and a local beach. While the beach is "ok", it is not worth visiting, bc even though the Hotel does have its own little beach club area, it is nothing special and you are smack within the middle of a huge throng of local people and their families. EVERYWHERE, so there is no peace and quiet and the water is not appealing. Next, the pool was nice and large and attractive, but the service is poor at the pool and slow (the server took FOREVER to bring our drinks, I had to get up 3x just to find him, and the drinks are very skimpy in size, it is obvious that they "pour measured amounts" in the glass and only fill 1/3 of the glass, while at the same time charging premium prices. ( ie: $25.00 for a glass of Champagne, and although very good Champagne, they only poured 1/3 of a glass. Disgraceful and I had to get the Manager as it was outrageous. Additionally, there are loud, screaming children running all around the pool and the staff does nothing to asuage the situation, despite my a number of times requesting assistance. |Continued: Our Suite was quite large and modern w/nice appointments,1.5 baths and fairly nice modern furnishings and style- The hotel itself is vast and reasonably attractive ( although it is clearly surviving on it's namesake and located in an odd area that is NOT very appealing) as it faces across the boulevard along a string of assorted shops that were not high -end, and the "sea" which was not beautiful as described or what they appear to indicate as such on the website. |We recommend NOT staying in Portonoz, but to the adjacent charming smaller town which is MUCH more charming. Portonoz is over rated. |The hotel is nice enough and we highly recommend staying in the Modern wing vs the other side, mainly because the other wing looks very depressing-half the place has the lights all off, and noone in the spaces. The restaurant was pretty but empty. the spa was pretty but empty. There are vast empty open spaces that were dark with the lights off and no music and no people. Very depressing-looked like "The Shining" (movie w/J Nicholson) The Staff is nice and well meaning, but they seem phony and insincere-worse than that aspect, they are all about the money. The recommend restaurants that probably kick them back $, they mark everything up 20-25%-including the boat trips that they recommend. For example: The sleazy concierge put together a boat trip for us that was supposed to cost $500 quoted to us, when in actuality it ended up being $750.00. When confronted, they conveniently ignored my messages and then conveniently that concierge ended up being"off" the following day. When i discussed this in an email to the GM I was ignored. Shocking!|What else/ oh yes, no housekeeping one evening and the poor man working the front desk had to bring us up fresh towels. In addition, the unshaven man who takes you here and there in the Golf buggy etc, was very surly and unfriendly with a sour attitude. Lastly, there was no nice good-byes to us upon departure. We stayed last year in a Kempinski in Gozo, Malta and had the most wonderful lively, happy staff all hugging us when saying good bye, and we also stayed in The Kempinski in Switzerland which was one of the most dazzling, ( wow) lovely hotels on the planet w/ a staff that knocked themselves out to please you. THIS Kempinksi was an outrage and huge dissapointment. The only response I ever got from my over 5 emails sent to them was from some odd woman who never bothered to say hello to me while I was there -offered me an "complimentary upgrade" for the "next time we visit" -HAHAHA that's funny-next time,...||PS: Stay in Piran if in this area,,,it is much more interesting w/much more flavor. It is only 10-minutes drive. Izola looked nice although we did not visit. Croatia--is-amazing.

Just came from this hotel. It was disappointed stay. For this charge per night I would expect better service. We have Kempinski also in Slovakia and it is on much higher level. |Biggest issue was breakfast - offer of meal and appearance of it has nothing with 5 star hotel and especially Kempinski. |On terrace the roof and windows were not been cleaned for a years. It was really dirty. When people finished their breakfast it took a at least half an hour that staff would come and clean the table. While this time it was a nice party for pigeons. Very close to another eating people on near tables. |Equipment of rooms is on level of 4 star hotels. Beach and services on beach is average. Definitely not as it should be at hotel of this name and money you pay per night. |Also whole area of Portoroz and also close restaurants are very expensive and quality of offered meal, apperewnce of restaurants, tables etc. is not on level you are paying for. |Also controls on the borders from Slovenian side of us - European Inion citizens was embarrassing - proforma border control made from tent on the parking place of filling station 🤦‍♀️|30 years back. I cannot recommend visit of this area.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal dort, und alles war perfekt. Der Service ist ausgezeichnet! Die Aussicht ist sehr schön, und das Housekeeping war sehr gut. Das Highlight im Hotel war für uns das Thalasso und das Abendessen. Kamal und Karmen vom Abendessen-Team waren ausgezeichnet! Das einzige, was uns als Familie mit Kind gefehlt hat, war ein Kids Club, wie er sonst bei Kempinski üblich ist.

This was our 5th time in Kempinski Portoroz which was again a wonderful experience. Perfect staff, clean rooms and good service. You need to try Sophia restaurant as this is very high level including thier Michelin award. We told to the staff our allergies and the chef immediately offered several options. Best culinarily experience in the last years…

Great location and amazing first-class service. The pool, spa and beach club is beautiful and well-managed. The staff all speak English and are extremely professional and attentive to 5-star service. Wonderful room amenities and bountiful breakfast buffet.

Unfortunately, our stay at the Kempinski Hotel Portorož did not meet our expectations for a five-star experience. We encountered several issues that significantly impacted our overall satisfaction. To begin with, we brought our dog along, and we were charged more than what was stated on the hotel’s website. Additionally, it was not clearly communicated that dogs are not allowed on the beach. This information was absent from the hotel’s website, which was particularly frustrating as we had specifically chosen this location assuming our dog could accompany us. Another disappointment was the dining experience. Upon check-in, we were assured that we could dine at Restaurant Sofia without a reservation, as hotel guests were always accommodated. However, when we arrived in the evening, we were rudely turned away, told that no tables were available. This forced us to venture into the old town for dinner. While exploring the town is normally not an issue, it became a significant inconvenience when we were again told we didn’t need a reservation at recommended restaurants, only to find no available seating. We spent two hours searching for a place to eat, which was frustrating. The breakfast offered at the hotel was also underwhelming, especially considering the five-star rating. The selection was very limited, particularly in terms of spreads and cheeses. While the breakfast service team is very friendly, they are unfortunately quite slow when it comes to clearing dirty dishes and resetting tables. Plates remain on the tables for far too long, tablecloths are not replaced in a timely manner, and this attracts a lot of birds, which could easily be avoided with more efficient table maintenance, even when guests are done eating or offer to hand over their plates. Furthermore, we were surprised to learn that there was no turn-down service or additional room cleaning during our stay, which we would have expected from a hotel of this caliber. When we inquired about this, we were told that this service is only available for suites, which we found disappointing. Another significant issue occurred when we returned to the hotel with our electric car and needed to charge it. We received no assistance from the hotel staff. Instead, we had to manually move barriers to access the charging station, and the concierge was neither helpful nor friendly during this process. This lack of service is simply unacceptable at a five-star establishment. The cleanliness of the pool and spa areas also left much to be desired. The pool area was not well-maintained, with missing tiles and a general lack of cleanliness. The indoor sauna area was also not clean. Additionally, the food served at the pool was grossly overpriced and far from delicious. Overall, we were disappointed with our stay at the Kempinski Hotel Portorož and would not return. The various issues we encountered, from the unwelcoming service to the subpar amenities, have left us with a poor impression of the hotel.

The hotel located in a beautiful compact town with good infrastructure. The employees were so friendly, helpful. My room was located in the old building with a small balcony but there is a new one with large terraces. There is a hair and nail salon, a very good clothing store. The ice cream in the cafe is so delicious. The hotel has its private beach area, but you have go cross the road to get there, also people from outside passing by this area. The water in the sea was normal, the seabed is sandy, similar to the sea in north Italy. There also located some wild beaches not far from Portoroze. ||One minus was the breakfast, it was the worst I experienced in a five star hotel (poor choice). The good thing about that there was enough place for all guests. You could enjoy your meal inside or outside.

Hotel unico nel suo genere. Colazione eccellente, cena superlativa, staff molto presente e perfetto nei suggerimenti di cosa fare in loco. Esperienza nel suo genere davvero positiva. Consiglio da provare.
