The Hostel pri Janezu is located in the center of Ljubljana, below the castle hill. With a charming and welcoming atmosphere, it is the perfect choice for visitors in need of accommodation in the city.
Location
The hostel is conveniently situated within a walking distance of 10 minutes to most of the main tourist attractions. You can easily reach the main market place, Ljubljana's castle, the Cathedral, City hall, The Three bridges, Prešeren Square, and the Congress Square on foot.
Despite its central location, the hostel provides a peaceful environment. Guests can enjoy the shade of trees in the park or relax in the sports facilities in front of the hostel.
The Story of Us
This building has a rich history. For over 100 years, it has provided a home to primary and high school students with special needs. During the summer holidays, when the students return to their families, the dormitory becomes available for visitors.
In 2014, Hostel pri Janezu was opened to the public for the first time. The hostel is not only a place to stay, but it also aims to achieve social inclusion of young people with special needs. By staying at the hostel, you will have the opportunity to meet the friendly and positive youngsters who work there as part of their summer jobs.

Very unpleasant bartender, but most of all, the salad was extremely poorly made. Don't recommend it. It was very obvious that the salad hasn't been done properly but no one even bothered to ask why i have left it untouched.

It was cheap and comfortable. Out of season it's a residential for special needs kids so it's a bit like sleeping in a school. Very good for the money though.

Great hostel with friendly staff and a kitchen per 3 rooms. Kitchen was never being used when we wanted it and it was very well equipped. There were no curtains in the rooms however and there wasn't ever many people around to make friends. The free breakfast was great.

Excellente auberge de jeunesse, accueil très agréable par le responsable des lieux, qui donne en plus de très bons conseils et adresses pour le séjour à Ljubljana. Chambre nickel avec casier fermable (prévoir son propre cadenas). Salle de bain et toilettes propres. Petit déjeuner compris. Lave-linge et étendoir disponibles (mais prévoir sa propre lessive). L'auberge est en plus bien située par rapport au centre-ville, idéal pour visiter la ville à pied. Je suis passé par cet endroit au cours d'un voyage Interrail et je recommande vivement +++

The structure is a bit wierd, it has kid painting all over, but it is fine. Perfect cleaning. The location is perfect too: 10 min away from the centre. The breakfast could be improved, and the bathrooms too. Overall it was a very nice stay.
A friend and I stayed in this hostel for one night during an interrail trip and it was one of the best we stayed in. It feels incredibly safe and friendly. It’s very clean and has a nice atmosphere. There is a large common room/kitchen with everything needed to self-cater. Also, this hostel is well located a few minutes walk from the centre of Ljubljana. Breakfast is included in the price which is fantastic. Unfortunately we were unable to have it because of an early train. The beds are comfortable - unless you’re 6’4” (like my friend) but that’s expected - and linen is also included in the price. The only bad thing was that the shower doors are swing doors so don’t lock. I assume this is because of the building’s use as a school. We would have loved to have stayed longer at this lovely hostel having fallen in love with the city within hours of arriving.

So I came in a little drunk one night during my stay and mid panic attack when I dropped my phone in a toilet at a club. The reception guy helped me out by drying my phone (it didn't end out helping but he tried) and he helped me calm down a bit too. The kitchen has everything you need, dished, an over, microwave, ect. And everything was kept clean. Only bad thing we that the showers were both co-ed and the stalled did not lock. A guy came in a started shaving while I was in the shower so I stopped there with my hand holding the top of the stall closed for like half an hour waiting on him to leave so I could get out and grab my clothes. The shower stalls didn't have anywhere to put your stuff. Location was great and it was in a beautiful part of Ljubljana. Very green! I would highly recommended the pub crawl they advertise by the way!

I stayed at this hostel for three nights in total and it was a pleasant experience.||The price is almost unbeatable (15 € per night with breakfast included) and the comfort is good. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and helpful and the location is also not bad (about 5 minutes to the river, where the city action begins). ||I will stay here again the next time I'm in Ljubljana!
The hostel was quaint and nice, being a boarding school in term time. The Wi-Fi worked well everywhere except the kitchen and the beds were comfy. The communal bathrooms were clean (although the shower doors didn't lock) and it was in a go location, only about 10 minutes from the centre
This hostel was adorable, being a boarding school for the majority of the year. The staff were so friendly and provided us with many flyers for local attractions which was really useful! Also, the buffet breakfast with local food was included in the hostel price and the room we stayed in was for just 5 people, meaning a more peaceful nights sleep. The kitchens were massive with a huge table and all the facilities you could want, including a TV! The laundry facilities were also free to use which was much needed :) Overall I had a great stay and would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Ljubljana!

One of best hostels, have stayed for couple nights. Hosts are just wonderful, room has been cleaned every day,3 kitchens to be used, TV, fast WI-FI, super free breakfast, big garden all around, kids play ground, basketball pitch, all around hostel.||BUDGET LUXURY, will definitely come back.||Well done boys and girls at Janet hostel

2 p.m. : alone, with my backpack, tired, without roof, without transport, after 3hours by walk with 17kg on my back, Almost raining, I ask for a couch cheap and the guy said me: I have private rooms for 40€ the night, I explained that my situation but he didn't care about me, they preferred leave a room unused than help someone... They're dumb and expansive because for 20€, I'll pay for sleep a bit. Finally, I slept under the rain in my hammac far to the center 4h by walk!
