Best way to spend a hot afternoon, while enriching your personal knowledge.
We decided to spend a part of our afternoon at this museum, although some reviews mentioned it was not worth it. Perhaps people who visit museums just like going to the market leave these kinds of reviews. Starting from the 2nd floor (with the prehistoric age) and ending downstairs (the history of Zadar, influenced by the Romans), there is a variety of captivating information. It took a while to read the info very well displayed and admire all the pieces, but for me personally it was a delight. It always fascinates me how pre-historic humans were able to come up with so many ways of survival... I also found interesting the passing from matriarchy (the first known form of social organization, not the other way round :)) to patriarchy. It was as if I had read the script of a movie, I could imagine the details I saw. It was a nice way of spending quality time indoors, far from the burning afternoons of Zadar.

Esperienza culturalmente arricchente.

I did not visited museums in Zadar although I was here so many times so I have decided to check out best one while waiting for my transport. On the internet this was first or second but as I do like history over illusion it was easy pick. It is very nice building with excellent position indeed. I was really impressed with the way they have covered Roman empire period as well as Illyrian tribe of Liburns before the Romans. Second floor with Roman period is the best and although I do know a lot this was really detailed explanation of all from architecture and military to kitchen and culture. I do recommend this for all history buffs in particular but also for all others who may not read it all but will find many interesting facts for sure.

Interesting sculptures only on the first floor! Some of the works are really interesting and well-displayed (it's a pity that they are not protected). The other floors seem to have been added for volume...
In any case, I'm really glad that I visited this museum 👍🏻

The museum is almost empty, with cheap tickets — though you can't pay with card.
The ancient rome section is amazing, though some of the exhibits could be better protected in my opinion – I am worried that over time, because of touch of some of the visitors, they may wither or get damaged.

Actually I was very surprised. Start on the third floor to learn about the neolithic period, work your way to the second floor covering the Roman period to the Christian period, and the medieval period on the first floor. I wish it were larger than it is, the region is so full of history and the museum is trying its best to showcase it; if there was to be more funding for expanding the museum it could show so much more. I highly recommend visiting, so much to see and learn. Great art pieces and ancient artifacts that showcase the rich story that Zadar has to offer.

Alcune teche vuote. Spiegazioni in inglese sotto ogni pezzo/teca. Pulito

Would not recommend! 7 euro per person for a bunch of stones to look into.
Not worth the hype, time or money.
