Yes, they ALSO charged EXTRA(200£) from my account. Maybe you already sent them an email, or you’re ABOUT TO… and now you’re here, reading the reviews.
Well, spoiler alert: EVEN IF YOU EMAIL THEM, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. You’ll receive AUTOMATED RESPONSES like “We’re looking into it” or “Thank you for reaching out”… but that’s it.
If you write your complaint HERE, you’ll get the usual “Your feedback is valuable, we’ll improve ourselves” type of replies.
I DON’T KNOW if anyone actually GOT THEIR MONEY BACK – but to me, this feels like a SCAM.
I should have listened to my friend and gone with ANOTHER RENT A CAR COMPANY.
I’ve rented cars all across Europe MANY TIMES, and this is the FIRST TIME something like this has happened to me.
You choose SIXT because it LOOKS RELIABLE and PROFESSIONAL, but the REALITY is NOT what it seems.
They WILL charge EXTRA from your account. I’M SORRY :(

Wir hatten im Vorfeld kein Fahrzeug gebucht, benötigten aber bei unserer Ankunft am Flughafen kurzfristig ein Auto. Also sind wir direkt zum SIXT-Schalter gegangen, wo uns zwei sehr freundliche Mitarbeiterinnen begrüßten. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir Ivana, die sich herzlich um unser Anliegen gekümmert hat. Sie hat uns alles geduldig und ausführlich erklärt und war dabei ausgesprochen sympathisch.
Dank ihr konnten wir sogar ein größeres Fahrzeug zum gleichen Preis erhalten. Nach nur 20 Minuten konnten wir unsere fast neue Skoda Octavia Limousine in Empfang nehmen – ganz ohne Kilometerbegrenzung. So konnten wir während unserer Urlaubswoche ganz entspannt alles erkunden, was wir uns vorgenommen hatten.
Auch die Rückgabe verlief absolut reibungslos. Gemeinsam mit einem Mitarbeiter haben wir das Fahrzeug begutachtet, danach wurde ich direkt zum Terminal gebracht.
Wir würden jederzeit wieder ein Fahrzeug bei SIXT mieten.

Cuidado com cobranças indevidas de seguro, a atendente Ivana vai fazer de tudo para vender seguro, inclusive dizendo que o seguro do cartão de crédito não é aceito naquela unidade da Sixt e na Croácia também, ela até chegou a fazer uma carta e pedi para ela assinar, nessa carta tem ate valor do boletim de ocorrência caso precisasse. Ela fala que o seguro básico que se contrata não cobre nada, mas na verdade ela vai vender o mesmo seguro mas com redução de franquia e adicionais de serviços de estrada, sendo que o o carro que aluguei um Mini Cabrio JCW era novo e com pneus Runflat que mesmo se furar voce pode ir rodando ate um local seguro. Fora o seguro da própria Sixt que contratei tinha o meu do cartão Visa Infinite. Ja mandei email solicitando a devolução dos valores cobrados a mais. Vejam abaixo a carta que ela fez e assinou.

Our experience returning the car at Sixt Split Airport was absolutely terrible. Upon arrival at the return area, we were met by two young attendants who immediately began questioning us about the car documents. To our surprise, they claimed the documents were missing and implied we had failed to return them properly.
We explained, calmly, that at no point during pickup were the documents explained to us — no one told us what to expect, where they would be stored, or what to do with them. Despite that, one of the attendants went as far as to accuse us of lying, which is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
It was only after we insisted on speaking with the manager that the situation was resolved — in about three seconds. He opened the glove compartment and found the folder exactly where Sixt staff normally leave it. No issues, no damage, no missing papers. Just a lack of proper communication and a shocking lack of training (and respect) from the staff involved.
This experience left a very bad impression. We understand that mistakes happen, but accusing customers of dishonesty without checking basic facts is inexcusable. If it weren’t for the manager stepping in, this could have escalated unnecessarily.
Extremely disappointing and certainly not the level of service you expect from an international rental company like Sixt. We won’t be renting from this location again!!!!!!!!

**Beware of Pre-Existing Damage Scams – Poor Experience with Sixt Dubrovnik & Split**
I recently rented a car from Sixt, picking up in Dubrovnik and dropping off in Split. At pick-up, I pointed out obvious pits in the bonnet to the Dubrovnik staff, but when I returned the car in Split, I was told these were new and might be charged for them. Unfortunately, a technical glitch meant my video evidence of the damage at pick-up wasn’t saved, but the staff in Dubrovnik acknowledged it at the time.
This appears to be a common issue—there are numerous reports online of Sixt in Croatia trying to charge customers for pre-existing damage. As an EU consumer, I know my rights and have made it clear I will escalate this to the European Consumer Centre and relevant authorities if they attempt to withhold my deposit or charge me unfairly.
It’s extremely disappointing to see such practices still occurring, especially with so many warnings from other travelers. I recommend anyone renting from Sixt in Croatia to be extremely vigilant, document everything, and be prepared to stand your ground.

A fuir vraiment. La voiture est donnée en mauvais état avec les niveaux pas à jour, et bien sûr on ne le voit pas sur le parking de départ de l'aéroport de Split (pneu fissuré, plaque d'immatriculation scotchée qui tombe sur la route). Aucune assistance de la part du loueur ou la plate-forme sur lequel on a loué. On aurait pu tomber en panne et rester 4 jours sur le bord de la route sans soucis. Contrat signé en français mais personne parle le français. Même en se déplaçant dans une autre agence, ils ont rien voulu savoir car pas d'autre voiture disponible de même game. Nous répond ni au téléphone ni par mail à postériori. Aucun geste commercial et nous parle de faire marcher notre assurance alors que les anomalies étaient déjà présentes avec preuves en photos. La voiture était clairement une mise en danger d'autrui avec le pneu qui aurait pu éclater à tout moment.

VAR FÖRSIKTIG! De kommer försöka lura dig på försäkring på plats. De lurade oss och många andra familjer före oss i kön. De kommer säga att du inte har försäkring och måste betala mellan 250-450 euro för försäkring, även om du redan har försäkring.

L’agent au comptoir était très aimable. Par contre, nous n’avions pas pris l’assurance. Au final nous ont expliqué que l’assurance était plutôt fortement conseillé. Nous l’avons pris car nous devions rendre la voiture avant l’ouverture. Donc pour plus de tranquillité nous avons pris la standard. Ils nous ont offert le second conducteur que j’avais pris. Le retour s’est bien passé. Confirmation par mail rapide.

Kann mich meinen Vorrednern bez. Versicherung nur anschließen. Es wird hier versucht eine Zusatzversicherung zu verkaufen, obwohl alles bereits gebucht ist, indem man die Kunden vor Ort unter Druck setzt und behauptet, man sei sonst nicht versichert.

Really bad experience at sixt. Arrived around 9:30 pm they close at 10 pm. The type of car we booked was not available just regular gas car with 1400 euro security deposit. They did not have such car so forced us to take hybryd with 3500 euro security deposit. I did not have so much space on my visa. Had to cancel my reservation made through eDreams agency. Lost all of my money 400 canadian. Then rented from someone else. Horrible service zero understanding. Sixt at this airport is very busy and they treat customer as hassle. Do not offer any support or help. They also forced me to go for some prepaid gas option 35 euro where my booking was full to full included in the price. Avoid sixt in this location. Went with Enterprise and had great service.

I’ve seen some negative comments here, but our experience was excellent!
Everything went smoothly from start to finish. No waiting time at all when we picked up the car. We were even upgraded to a larger, nearly brand-new BMW X1.
The staff were very helpful throughout. I have insurance through my credit card, and there were no issues at all — no pressure to buy any extra coverage.
Returning the car was also super easy. We just drove into the parking area, and a staff member immediately came to take over the car. After checking everything was in order, the woman who helped us even offered to drive us to the departure terminal — which we really appreciated, as we were a family with kids and quite a bit of luggage.

A la prise de la voiture, grosse pression pour prendre le rachat de franchise et des options supplémentaires : 2nd conducteur, assurance pour les îles, assurance pour la Bosnie.
Cela dit, nous avons certainement été surclassé (voiture plus grosse que demandée). Le retour du véhicule s est très bien passé.
