I am leaving a review for two locations of Sixt Car Rental. The locations of Split (airport) and Makarska, Croatia treated us with excellent care. In Split we had the luck of working with Mihael. In Makarska we worked with Neda. We definitely had to wait in line at the Split airport as we were visiting in peak season for tourism. But as soon as Mihael received our booking, it was a very quick process. He made sure to give me his email address in case we needed anything, but also for future bookings. And thankfully he did because once we got into our very clean and new car, it was apparent that it would be a tight fit with all of our luggage and my three children so a couple of weeks into our vacation. I emailed to Mihael to ask if we could swap the car that we rented for a bigger model. Within 25 minutes of my email, I received a phone call from him. He worked hard to find a Sixt location close to our home in Croatia. That time there was nothing available. My only option was to travel back to Split. After thinking it over for a few days, I realized that it would be really out of my way, so I emailed him again asking if there were any updates to the location closest to us in terms of new vehicles. He immediately contacted the Makarska Branch again. And I received a phone call from a very professional gentleman at that location. Within an hour, I was headed to the Makarska branch to swap out my vehicle. I had a little trouble finding the location and so I called the branch to ask for help and to ask for advice on Which gas station to stop at on my way? Neda answered my call and was the representative that assisted me with my car exchange. She was so kind and warm. She took time to show me my options and worked with us to find the best car. She reassured me that Sixt would make every effort to help us with our needs and I was so impressed by her. I am from Saint Louis, Missouri (USA) The home of Enterprise car-rentals. In the early 2000s I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Jack Taylor, brilliant and humble man who created that empire. Enterprise is a strong and huge company and they do a great job. But I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this level of care with Enterprise. Thank you Mihael and Neda. Sixt- great job hiring such professional and knowledgeable staff.

Une personne avertie en vaut deux ! J'ai réservé chez Sixt en me disant que les avis positifs étaient plus sérieux que les autres... Quelle erreur ! J'avais réservé sur le site de Sixt une voiture pour 228 euros et je ressort avec une facture de 516 euros car il y a l'assurance qu'on vous dit obligatoire même si vous leur affirmez que votre CB couvre les dommages, le plein d'essence soit disant offert qui vous est facturé 50 euros, les frais d'aéroport non compris dans le prix internet. Vous êtes pris en otage car la somme versée pour la réservation n'est pas remboursable. Je ne dirai pas que ça a gâché nos vacances mais ça a entamé le budget du reste de l'été. Donc, un conseil, ne réservez pas chez Sixt Split car comme ils me l'ont expliqué ils ne dépendent pas d'eux donc pas de recours... Écœurant !

Arrivée a 22h12, on commence par nous facturer 30€ de suppléments car on est hors des horaires d'ouverture... Votre bureau est dans un aéroport ou les avions décollent jour et nuit ! C'est quoi cette vaste blague ?? Sinon, la voiture était propre et bien entretenue. Si vous pouvez éviter les Suzuki Swift qui vous hurle à la figure à chaque micro dépassement de vitesse, chaque regard autre que devant vous ou encore que vous portez vos lunettes de soleil,... je vous le conseille vivement ! Mais il paraît que c'est la nouvelle loi... Vive la technologie)

Very good service. The guys at the desk were very friendly, gave me the opportunity to choose a vehicle, and explained everything about the rental. The car was new only 2,000 km and in excellent condition. An excellent experience overall.

We had a very positive experience with Sixt at Split Airport. The staff was highly professional and helpful — the entire pick-up process took just 5 minutes. The car was clean and in excellent condition. Returning the vehicle was just as smooth and efficient. Everything was handled professionally from start to finish. We are very satisfied and will definitely rent from Sixt again in the future. Highly recommended!

Fahrzeug kann vor den Öffnungszeiten abgegeben werden ohne zusätzliche Gebühr. Beim Parkplatz gibt es eine Schlüsselbox zum einwerfen. Wir haben einen neuen Dacia Duster erhalten, statt einen Kleinwagen Fiatt500. Spielte mir aber keine Rolle, da kein Aufpreis.

Agent de comptoir clair dans ses explications et pas de mauvaises surprises. Impeccable pour nous. Pas besoin de nettoyer le véhicule, un plus quand on a déjà le stress du voyage retour et pas forcément le temps...

Another great rental experience. From the airport pickup to drop-off, no issues at all. The pickup was quick and not too much pressure to purchase extra services. The staff members were polite and explained everything in detail. The drop-off was quick and gave us a ride back to thr terminal. Please note that the return address we were given took us to the wrong location, the return location is further down the road from the main terminal and pickup. Also, would like to see a better variety of fleet vehicles.

Avoid Sixt. Car picked up in Dubrovnik and returned to Split. They refused to accept my Korean credit card with no valid explanation, even though it works internationally. I was forced to buy a second, unnecessary insurance just to get the car. Staff were unhelpful and unprofessional. Felt like a scam to make customers pay more. Not recommended — especially for international travelers.

Our recent experience with Sixt Split Airport started out promising, but unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations. Upon arrival, we were happy to see that there were only three people ahead of us in line. Having booked and prepaid everything – including full insurance – directly through the Sixt website, we were looking forward to a smooth “Straight to Car” experience, especially with two tired children in tow. However, despite the small queue and our online check-in, we ended up waiting in line for over an hour. During this time, we were repeatedly offered add-ons and extras we had already declined online. It was frustrating to feel like we had to go through the entire process again, rather than simply being handed the keys and sent on our way, as promised. To Sixt’s credit, the car itself was clean, well-prepared, and the return process was impressively efficient – no complaints there. But unfortunately, the key handover process really needs improvement. When the car is prepaid, fully insured, and reserved through your own app, the pickup should be quick and seamless. This is not a case of a system that cannot work efficiently – because it clearly does at other Sixt locations. It feels more like a case of not wanting to streamline the process. Sixt Split, please consider putting the customer experience first, especially for families traveling with young children, and reduce unnecessary delays at pickup. A better process here could truly make a great difference. Do not let us down the next time - then I am afraid we will go elsewhere.

avoid . I was told my pre booked insurance was invalid, and I had to buy their overpriced cover. i had no option but to if i wnated to leave the airport. realising my mistake I went back and the desk staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. saying the system was locked. directed to customer services . which have not answered phone. or replied to email. very unhappy customer. poor ethics and business practise by the desk staff. I hired through Sixt as it was a trusted name.

Wish we read these reviews before hand. Just read them all and so many stories are similar. Pressuring people on insurance they don't need and then swapping costs between booking and invoice. We experienced all. My husband booked the car, with an employee discount. We didn't need insurance as we have coverage through credit card, and they were rude and argumentative with my husband. Then insisted they needed to put a hold of 3500 euros on our card! That is absolutely insane. The car we got had a dent in the driver passenger side door and we informed the one staff who was out in the parking lot. She waved us off and said take photos. We took photos and videos. When we returned the car it was before they were open, once again we took photos and videos. Then we got a bill charging us for damage, charging us for fuel fill up, and totally changed the rate from the discount we had via employee discount. I immediately contacted Sixt by email ( only clear customer service ). Four days later, no response. We have photos and videos to prove we had no damage to the car, so this is absolute fraud. We have rented from Sixt in many countries and this unfortunately has turned us off the brand completely If Sixt is listening you have a corrupt location here. Update: They responded and shared a photo of damage on the bumper they were charging us for. We emailed them back with a photo with meta data and time stamp of our pick up showing exact same damage. No response. They are essentially charging us for damage someone else did, and potentially charging multiple people for this same damage. I wonder how many people have been charged for this exact damage....hmmm. Also said we returned the car low on fuel, which we did because they charged us for the prepaid fuel (despite not wanting this) .

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Very unhelpful staff and not at all service-oriented. Very pushy regarding getting insurance despite the insurance coverage from my credit card company. Ended up getting insurance anyway, which was my fault entirely for being ignorant regarding the topic. So from it being 200 euros for rent we paid in total 400 euros for rent + insurance. The car we rented had exterior damages that weren’t documented on paper. We complained and got another car from them. However, it was the same problem there - scratches on the exterior of the car undocumented on paper. They said it was okay because we got insurance from them so we wouldn’t have to pay for damages. When returning the car back they pointed out these exterior damages (that existed prior to us renting the car). We didn’t have to pay for damages because of the insurance we got from them. Without the insurance, they would have absolutely charged us for damages despite them existing prior to us renting the car!! SCAM!
