We rented an Opel from Alamo at Dubrovnik Airport. The car stalled mid-trip and wouldn’t restart. After over an hour waiting in the heat, a technician jump-started the car. But in reality, the moment the engine was turned off, the car wouldn’t start again. Clearly, this was a faulty vehicle.. We asked Alamo for help, but they insisted we drive the faulty car back to the airport ourselves, despite obvious safety issues and warning lights. After hours of frustrating calls, we had no choice but to risk driving it to Split Airport to get a replacement. Staff at Split gave us a new car, and told us not to worry about fuel. But after the trip, we were still charged for fuel. When we emailed customer service, we got only a quick "sorry." Completely unacceptable. Think twice before renting from Alamo.

Every country and company has different rules for renting cars out. I found the sales process to be transparent, even if the numbers look a little intimidating at first, it makes sense for a total loss deductible. Similarly with border crossings, it's totally normal for companies to tack on a fee based on the different cities you might be going to, since they're outside the served jurisdiction. It's disengenious to call this scammy behavior when it is presented up front. I say this because I was able to put their trustworthiness to the test. I ordered an SUV but underestimated the size of the trunk. On Day 1, they graciously swapped my car for an Audi A5 station wagon, a premium class vehicle, for a very reasonable daily upgrade fee. Unfortunately, the boot space still wasn't enough for a party of 5, we had way too much luggage. That was my mistake. I called their office and they didn't pick up. So i thought I was well out of luck. To my surprise, when I thought I had no choice but to go back to the office, a gentleman from an Enterprise/Alamo office called me back. It turned out it was the Pula location (I was in Dubrovnik). I explained I wasn't able to reach their office, and that I had a problem - I had a road trip and I really needed a bigger vehicle. The agent took my license plate and forwarded my request to the Dubrovnik office. Within a few hours, I was contacted on Whatsapp by Alamo in Dubrovnik, with options presented at no extra cost. Those options did not work for me, so after the office closed, I sent an after hours message requesting a bigger car the next morning. Antonio got back to me the morning on the road trip and presented me two bigger options that suited me, and I rushed over to the airport right away to evaluate them. Mikhail (hope I'm spelling it right) let me see both the trunks of each car in the lot, and made me a recommendation, and set me up with the vehicle. I felt really well taken care of. There was no reason for any of these guys to go out of their way for me like that, but they saved my family holiday with their great service. I saw a team of gentlemen trying to do honest work, and that is the experience I want to share with all of you. Thanks Antonio and Mikhail for making my day today. I am so grateful for your help. Thanks to the office for going above and beyond to modify my reservation twice and accomodating my rising needs.

A proscrire,,il faut vraiment fuir cette agence et même les autres qui se trouvent à côté Vous faites une réservation en France et sur place on vous demande une assurance supplémentaire alors que j'ai la carte gold.Ils ont rien voulu savoir.J'ai été pris en otage impossible d'avoir une voiture si je paye pas la somme du raquette de 230 euros supplémentaires. C'est vraiment des voleurs une véritable mafia et les autres voyageurs étaient aussi dégoûtés.Ils se sont fait raquettés pareil. J'ai l'habitude de louer à l'étranger c'est la première fois une telle pratique. Une honte 😡

No issues with Alamo/Enterprise. Good customer service. 50euro one off fee to drive into Montenegro Albania etc. Still cheaper than renting car in Montenegro. Got brand new corsa with 3000kms on the clock. Pick up location just outside airport in car park.

Polecam tą wypożyczalnię na lotnisku w Dubrowniku. Lokalizacja blisko terminala, kompetentna, pomocna i komunikatywna obsługa. Dostaliśmy niemal nowe Renault Clio. Zwrot przebiegł błyskawicznie, pani sama do nas podeszła kiedy tylko zaparkowaliśmy przed wypożyczalnią. Zanim zdążyliśmy się wypakować wszystkie formalności były już dopełnione. 10/10

I had a disappointing experience with this rental agency. I received the car with a little over half a tank of fuel and was clearly instructed to return it at the same level. However, due to a misunderstanding at a nearby petrol station, the tank was filled completely — nearly 28 liters of fuel, when only about 4–5 liters were needed. I immediately informed the rental company and kindly asked for a partial refund for the excess fuel, providing the receipt and all the details. Unfortunately, they refused to take any initiative or responsibility, even though it was a clear case of overfueling beyond what was required or agreed. According to them, “the contract was fulfilled” — but the truth is, they took the car back with significantly more fuel than necessary and chose not to compensate at all. I believe a customer-focused company should not hide behind technicalities, especially when a good-faith solution is obvious. Disappointed by the lack of support.

Super loueur, réservation facile par téléphone, tarif très correct, aucune mauvaise surprise. Le guichet est tout près des arrivées, le personnel est cool. La fiat panda hybride fonctionnait très bien, je recommande chaleureusement ce loueur. ALAMO+Enterprise

Very fraudulent workers. Before signing the rental agreement, I noticed he added premium insurance. We ended up paying nearly double our initial quote. We initially came here because we were familiar with the brand as American tourists but if I revisit Croatia, I would avoid this spot. Tip: We drove through Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Slovenia and not once needed any of the "insurances" included. Roads are clear. At times, rocky when you are off the main path but nothing unexpected.

A fuir, nous avons eu une panne d'embrayage apres 250 kms de route. Entreprise Alamo nous a mis a disposition une voiture de remplacement sans discuter et nous preleve sur notre compte à notre retour la somme de 2412 eur pour reparation ! sans devis , juste une facture sur notre boite de mail 15 jours apres ! n''avons aucun recours. Nous avions laissé une empreinte de carte bleue à notre arrivee d'un montant de 1200 eur et ils ont le droit de prelever plus ! c'est une honte

Perfect experience with Alamo in May 2025. Picking up the car was smooth and it was in great condition, dropping off the car was quick, and the service was excellent. The staff even gave some tips for avoiding the busy border crossing when heading to Kotor and recommended a faster one where there was no wait. Thanks for everything!

Location pour une semaine, nous avons eu une Clio 5 toute neuve (300km au compteur), aucune soucis, voiture rendu en dehors des heures d’ouverture sans frais supplémentaires, et 50€ pour le passage de frontière pour le Montenegro à payer sur place quand on récupère la voiture.

Nos dieron el auto sin controlar la presión de los neumáticos, nos dijo que no tenía rueda de auxilio, y tenía un kit de reparación,una rueda se desinfló y no había kit. Tampoco estaba muy limpio por dentro

Hands off!! First they urge you to sign additional insurance packages (they don't accept debit cards or credit cards without PIN – but there's no way to know that when you made your booking via booking.com for example). Then they leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere when your car breaks down. We were told to drive back to the airport (80 km with a loose metal part under the car which screeched and threw sparks?) or wait at least 4 to 5 hours for a towing truck - when there was a mechanic directly across the street. Worst and most expensive car rental experience ever. We thought we payed for Alamo standard - but got a car in bad condition from a dubious agency.
