Located in the heart of Kras, Slovenia, Callin Wines is a boutique vineyard dedicated to producing high-quality, organic wines. With over 200 years of history, our family-owned estate is rooted in traditional viticulture, where we grow native grape varieties such as Teran and Vitovska in the picturesque villages of Kazlje and Utovlje.

Our Philosophy

At Callin Wines, we believe in sustainable practices that nurture both our vines and the environment. Our grapes are cultivated without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. We strive to honor the land by practicing organic farming and, since 2016, we have incorporated biodynamic principles into our winemaking process.

Unique Winemaking Process

Our winemaking approach is both artisanal and innovative. After hand-harvesting our grapes, we opt for a traditional method of processing, avoiding industrial milling. Our grapes undergo a 20-day maceration period before maturing in 250-liter oak barrels. This natural fermentation process allows us to create unfiltered wines that retain their original flavors and aromas.

Teran: The Jewel of our Vineyard

Our signature wine, Teran, is a distinctive red wine produced from the Refošk grape. Thanks to the unique limestone-rich soil of Kras, Teran boasts a rich color and complex flavor profile, recognized for its health benefits, including high levels of iron. Regular consumption of Teran has been associated with various health advantages such as antioxidant properties and cholesterol-lowering effects.

Experience our Quality

In addition to Teran, we offer a selection of other wines including our exquisite White Cuvee, a blend of Malvazija, Vitovska, and Sivi Pinot, matured in oak barrels. This wine presents a golden hue with enticing aromas reminiscent of honey, almonds, and dried fruits.

Eco-Conscious Practices

To enhance the health of our vines, we have implemented bioenergetic fields, the first of their kind in Kras, which positively influence the growth of our grapes. We also practice vine "massage," a method that promotes vitality and strengthens our plants by improving lymphatic flow and overall health.
