Schön, dass die Tranvia Trieste - Opicina wieder fährt. Die Fahrt lohnt sich nicht nur wegen der historischen Fahrzeuge und der Besonderheit, dass die Straßenbahn zwischen Piazza Casali und Vetta Scorcola von einem Standseilbahn den Berg hochgeschoben und bei der Talfahrt gebremst wird, sondern auch wegen der schönen Aussicht auf die Stadt und das Meer.

Starting point of the tram to Opicina. The steep ride is memorable, the only downside is that the single tram car has no ventilation (at least in winter) so that you breathe the air other passengers cough into. 🥲

After 8.5 years out of service, the city's public transport attraction, the Opicina tram, was relaunched on 1 February 2025. Currently, Piazza Dalmazia is the lower terminus instead of Oberdan. The tram's special feature is that it is pulled up by a cable like a funicular on the steep section out of the city; it is interesting to travel on this section standing on the heavily sloped floor.
