This was an exceptional meal and experience. The service was attentive and polite, with the waiter knowing the wines and offering recommendations plus tastings. The food was universally delicious (with the Bograč a highlight). Two courses with sides, wines, and mineral water was a touch over 50€ plus tip. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better meal than Gujžina in Ljubljana.

Gujzina serves typical Slovenian food and quality is quite good although not exceptional in taste as well as presentation. This is not to say that it is average but when the price is considered, then you could have the same for 20% less. Service depends on which waiter/waitress you get. We were there twice over two days and the first time around, we got very good service with the waitress prompt and accomodating. She made made spot on recommendations based on what dishes we chose. Delivery was prompt as we stuck with the items which seems to have been prepared in advance (goulash, salad). The table next to us was made to wait gorever for their meat dish and we could see that they were quite upset at this. The next day we returned for dinner and sat at the same table. The male waiter was polite but brief in his answers. Not all too attentive but prompt when called. Like the night before, the same table (different guests) next to us waited forever for their buckwheat dish. Unlike the other coupke from the night before, they complained about the delay and were a reply to the order of: “You see how many guests we have!” and when they wanted to cancel the rest of the order he replied “You already had the soup.” probably implying that they ought to make sure to pay for that. We didn't get that kind of rude service and got our meals within a reasonable amount of time. So if you go here, stick to the simple items and do NOT complain about the slow service unless you want to be given a rather rude response in return.

This is a review for Gujžina, where I did not have a pleasant experience. First, the service is tardy. There's a long delay before anyone would come to take your order and then another lengthy wait for the food to arrive. The portions are simply too small, as you may guess from the picture. There's a ridiculous seating charge, which adds up to the already too expensive menu. Not a great value for money. On the plus side though, the presentation of food is pretty nice and the terrace is lovely.

Good goulash-y soup. Featured walnut/poppy seed layered cake was bland and had no textural contrast between layers. Pastry top was soggy. Staff were disinterested and slow (in fairness, because of lunch rush).
