Be ready for a workout to get up to Fort Royal, but definitely worth the effort. The view is spectacular with such peaceful serenity.

Beautiful Austro-Hungarian fortress made for defensive purposes, giving vision to all surrounding area, great observatory point and it's almost invisible from sea level, so also from this strategic point, usefull. It was built after kicking of Benedict Monks from the Lokrum Island by French army of Napoleon and later transformed it into military area for Austro-Hungarian dominance period. As four other islands of Croatia that Benedict Monks were taking care of for around 700 years surrounding area is relatively untouched by human inference and left as national reserve area.
