Dakle... Konoba Mate je neočekivano gastronomsko iskustvo tamo gdje najmanje očekujete. Ovo je konoba usred malog otočkog mjesta Pupnata, koja pomiče granice fine kuhinje do razine restorana sa zvjezdicama, a da se ipak osjećate ležerno kao uobičajeni gost konobe. Svaki slijed koji smo kušali bio je jedinstven, maštovit i savršeno izbalansiran... Kada svemu tome dodate sjajnu domaćicu koja vas poslužuje, kao da ste u njezinoj kući (tko zna, možda smo i bili?!), kuhare koji vas nasmješeni pozdravljaju iz kužine, onda to ostaje nezaboravno iskustvo koje vas motivira da napišete osvrt kao što je ovaj naš. Za ovakav lijepi doživljaj, cijena je bila umjerena i normalna. We'll be back!

Ukratko: ovo mjesto je za čiste gušte i za one koji znaju uživati u hrani :) Uširoko: već godinama ljetujemo na Korčuli i bilo je već odavno na to do listi posjetiti konobu Mate. Naš grijeh što nismo ranije. Da se iskupimo, nakon današnje večere, odmah smo rezervirali termin za nekoliko dana. Ambijent - kao da smo došli kod nekoga doma, u konobu. Osoblje - susretljivo, ljubazno, nenametljivo, strpljivo Hrana - savršena, za guštanje. Težačka plitica je odlična. Namaz od pršuta, pun pogodak. Balancane odlične. Sirevi...ma bez teksta sam koliko su dobri. Ravioli od kadulje - prefini, bogati punjenjem. Makaruni s kozicama - kozice milina za jesti. Desert - ne znam je li bolji sladoled ili sorbeto. Sorbeto s travama je pravi osvježavajući ljetni desert. Odlični ste na svim poljima i samo tako nastavite dalje. Update: svakim dolaskom u konobu Mate doživljaj je sve bolji. Hrana, osoblje, ambijent. Za svaku pohvalu. Onda se zapričate s ljudima za stolom do vas. Nije pitanje ako se vidimo, nego kad se vidimo. Dolazak na Korčulu podrazumijeva odlazak k Mati. Kao da posjećujem stare prijatelje. Ostanite i dalje takvi. Vidimo se uskoro 😀

Konoba Mate is a must-visit! From the outstanding service to the warm, welcoming atmosphere, everything was top-notch. Chef Marko's personalized touch and delicious, authentic Croatian cuisine made it an unforgettable dining experience. This is easily one of our favourite places, I would recommend to anyone on Korčula island to come to Konoba Mate and have the best experience full of delicious flavours and beautiful people.

Stimmungsvolle Konoba im Landesinneren mit authentischer, regionaler Küche. Die meisten Gerichte waren hervorragend – frisch, hausgemacht und voller Geschmack. Die Peka war geschmacklich gut gewürzt und aromatisch, aber leider etwas trocken und nicht ganz zart. Trotzdem eine klare Empfehlung für alle, die abseits der Küste echte dalmatinische Küche erleben möchten. Kroatien zeigt mit den neuen Michelin-Auszeichnungen 2025, dass hier kulinarisch viel geboten wird – und dieses Lokal reiht sich gut ein.

Ich war mit einer Freundin zum Abendessen da und wir hatten einen fantastisches Erlebnis. Das Essen war sehr lecker, vor allem die gemischte Vorspeisenteller hat uns sofort überzeugt, so sehr, dass wir am liebsten einen Ganzen hausgemachten Ziegenkäse gekauft hätten. Ein paar der Leckereien konnten wir auch in dem kleinen Verkaufsladen erwerben. Auch der Hauptgang war ein Gaumenschmaus, das Fleisch war unfassbar zart und die Soße war sehr lecker. Leider kam unser Bus zu früh und wir hatten keine Zeit mehr für eine Nachspeise, aber wir können es nur weiterempfehlen. Lieben Dank auch an die super nette Kellnerin, die zu meinem Glück auch noch einwandfrei Deutsch sprechen konnte und uns somit zu jedem servierten Gang etwas erzählen konnte. Das Ambiente ist sehr gemütlich und man fühlt sich richtig wohl. Den Preis fanden wir definitiv gerechtfertigt. :)

Jučer 9. srpnja sam došla sa dečkom i dvoje prijatelja na večeru. Tada nisam ni slutila šta će se kasnije desiti. Večer je tekla savršeno hrana i ambijent su mi bili prekrasni isto kao i usluga na kraju večeri prilikom posluživanja deserta me je moj dečko zaprosio što je dalo još jednu dodatnu čar samoj večeri. Ovim putem se želim zahvaliti osoblju konobe Mate na profesionalnosti i odličnoj hrani Ps.ekipa savršeni ste

Naručili smo njihov specijalitet, kozlić ispod peke, koji morate naručiti dan prije. Ako ste turist, bit će vam super, no ako ste domaći navikli na našu pravu tradicionalnu dalmatinsku peku onda ćete se blago razočarati kao i mi. Meso je bilo mekano, ali pomalo presušeno, a krumpiri suhi kao da su kuhani ubačeni zadnjih pola sata prije kraja pečenja. Uzeli smo i miješanu salatu dodatno za 7-8€, porcija minijaturna, a zelena salata je bila odstajala sa smeđim rubovima. Definitivno nije bila domaća i preskupa za to što je prezentirano. Kućno vino dosta kiselo, pa ko voli bit će mu ok. Nama nije odgovaralo. Konobarica tiha i ljubazna, na kraju večere pitala nas je je li sve bilo uredu, a ja sam je pitala na koji način spremaju peku jer mi se čini da su krumpiri kuhani u vodi i ubačeni u peku. Tražili smo račun koji smo nakon toga dosta dugo čekali, sto nam je stvorilo nervozu. Dodatnu nelagodu unio nam je i kuhar koji nas je osobno došao uvjeriti da je u nama problem jer mi ne znamo razliku između jaretine i janjetine i da su ukusi različiti te da je njemu samo bitno da nije u njima problem jer meso i krumpiri nisu sirovi. Neugodno je kad te kuhar koji nije iz Hrvatske uvjerava da je problem u nama koji smo odrastali na tradicionalnoj dalmatinskoj peki 🙂 to nam je pokvarilo ukupan dojam večeri.

Updated: We went around noon (hours stated on Google as open) hoping for a meal but were turned away. It seems it's only open for cakes/dessert during the daytime, with dinner service beginning at 17:00. Other visitors were turned away just after us. The menu online made us think that the full menu would be available. We left disappointed because we'd heard good things. It would be helpful to have more clarity on the website or on Google.

I will never be able to say enough good things about this restaurant. Even calling it a restaurant doesn't do it justice. It is simply something that should be experienced. There is a genuine sense of warmth and familial ease that permeates the establishment. The care and attention to detail in the cuisine is foreshadowed by the subtle nuances of and consideration given to the surroundings. There is artistry in the simplicity if you merely take the time to look for it. The service was nothing short of splendid. Fascinating details and background were shared about how certain items were prepared and all questions were happily answered. We were never rushed and were graced with ample time to fully appreciate all the items set before us. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, our enthusiasm was always mirrored perfectly by the staff. As a group, we were fortune enough to be able to sample a little bit of almost everything, eagerly passing dishes back and forth so we all could marvel at the morsels presented. There is nothing quite like hearing someone laugh in delight upon taking that first bite, and this happened several times. Everything we ate was simply fantastic, sparking not only comments in the moment, but for hours that followed as well. You will see the word "Konoba" attached to countless restaurants, but in this case it is truly apt. I encourage anyone and everyone who truly appreciates an authentic and traditional experience to visit Konoba Mate. You won't be disappointed. Just remember that you can only get back what you offer yourself. Update: To the Konoba Mate Owner - Just wanted to let you know that I was able to read your reply to this review which I cannot seem to see anymore. I shared it with all that attended it was fantastic to read! The response was just a heartfelt as the care you out into your food, service and establishment and I just wanted to thank you for taking that time to write it.
