Touristy? Of course, since the Restaurant Sokol is smack in the center of Ljubljana's prime tourist area. What makes it different is the attentive, friendly and competent staff and the good quality food. Authentic Slovenian cuisine is of course more on the tasty, strong flavor side and, yes, more fat than a diet guru might approve of. But the taste is great, the flavors rich and when you finish with a traditional dessert and a digestif from the region... Dishes are regional but also salads (roasted goat cheese with crushed hazelnuts and pears on salad with honey as vinaigrette was delicious) are on the menue. As desserts we had Hazelnut strudel with honey sauce and Topfenstrudel with a sauce made from Teran (a local autochtone grape) - definitely recommend. Drinks range from local beers, Slovenian wine (the local Teran grape makes a very tasty and dark red wine) and drinks - the squirrel drink was great. And the rustic interior fits the foods - why not an evening with friendly staff and like-minded guests in a Slovenian restaurant. Some little vacation within your vacation. Especially when staff like Jan and Ilhal make your stay pleasant and easy. Thank you, Sokol team, for helping to make our day in Ljubljana one to remember with a smile.

Excellent ! Et vraiment copieux ! Un peu trop même ! Lol ! Service au top, dans une ambiance traditionnelle, serveur en costume, musique slovène, … Entre 15 et 20 euros les plats ! Je recommande fortement ! Nous avons pris Schnitzel, calamars fris et plat traditionnel slovène !

Kelner, który nas obsługiwał widocznie wiedział lepiej ode mnie na co mam ochotę. Przy składaniu zamówienia odradził mi drugie danie twierdząc, że gulasz który zamówiłem jako pierwsze danie to duża porcja. Kiedy chciałem też od razu zamówić deser powiedział że nie przyjmie teraz zamowienia ponieważ wybrany deser jest na ciepło i wystygnie zanim skończę swoje danie. Widocznie przerasta go kolejność podawania posiłków. Ja się kłócić nie będę - restauracja zarobiła 30 euro mniej dzięki obsłudze, która pozjadała wszystkie rozumy.

Visited early September as couple. Ambiance was good. Service was average, as the food. Pricing was geared towards tourists and too high. We ordered one Mushroom soup in a bread cup and one Ljubljana steak. The service was prompt when seating us, but it took a while for them to bring the menu. Additionally, after bringing the menu, the server rushed us to place our order, which felt a bit pushy. When we wanted to pay, it also took some time for the server to bring the credit card reader. (3/5) The food was okay and average. The mushroom soup in the bread cup was just a regular mushroom soup, and serving it in bread didn't add any extra flavor. It was merely a change in presentation. Towards the end, the bread became overly salty. (3/5) The Ljubljana steak tasted like a typical Calzone, and I'm not sure why it's called a Ljubljana steak. The fancy name didn't add any special value to the dish itself. I could buy 4 similar steaks for €3.99 in total at any Aldi in Germany. (1/5) The overall pricing is higher than in non-touristy areas and doesn't match the quality of the food. The ambiance is truly enjoyable, as the atmosphere and decorations create a nice local feeling, which is a positive aspect. (4/5) In general, I can only recommend this restaurant if you specifically want to dine in a touristy area. Otherwise, there are plenty of other restaurants with better value for your money. (3+3+1+4)/4 = 2,75 => 3 stars

Prezzi alle stelle, mentre fino a pochi anni fa aveva prezzi popolari! Si può trovare di meglio a molto meno! Abbiamo speso 25 euro a testa per un secondo ed una birra!

Waren mit 14 Leuten da - so richtig gut fand es niemand. Der Service war schnell, aber gar nicht hilfsbereit - wenn es z.B. darum ging, Informationen zu Inhaltsstoffen im Essen zu bekommen. Es war dafür dann auch recht teuer. Wir waren uns durchweg einig, dass wir dort nicht mehr hingehen würden. Für Veganer auch komplett ungeeignet.

In the heart of downton under the castle. It seems a long tradition Slovenian cuisine, but they serve other well known international dishes. The BBQ pork rib is OK, soft though a bit salty to my tounge, but it is balance with plain fries potatoes. My wife order Slovenian veal cook and she said ok a bit flat (my wife likes salt in a contrary with me). Overall the experience is good, the price is normal.
