Астрономска опсерваторија
The Astronomical Station Vidojevica, established by the Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade, is a premier observation site nestled on the slopes of Mt. Vidojevica near Prokuplje, at an elevation of 1150 meters. This optimal location, characterized by its dark night skies, offers an exceptional environment for astronomical research and observation.
At Vidojevica, we have developed extensive facilities to support various astronomical activities. Our main headquarters includes a living pavilion and a specialized dome housing a 60cm telescope. Additionally, we proudly accommodate the newly installed 1.4m telescope, "Milanković", which is equipped with an automated dome for seamless observations. This advanced telescope, which arrived on April 28, 2016, is now located within a modern pavilion designed specifically for high-level astronomical research.
Recognizing the importance of environmental conditions in observational astronomy, we are initiating a comprehensive measurement campaign to assess the astro-climate at the summit of Mt. Vidojevica. Our efforts will be complemented by an automatic meteorological station, an all-sky camera, and a seeing monitor, all installed to enhance our understanding of local conditions vital for maximizing the performance of our astronomical instruments.
