Астрономска опсерваторија
Located on the majestic Mt. Vidojevica near Prokuplje, the Astronomical Station Vidojevica serves as a premier observation site established by the renowned Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade. At an elevation of 1150 meters, it offers a unique vantage point for astronomical research and exploration.
Over the years, we have developed a robust infrastructure to support scientific activities. The main headquarters is housed within a modern living pavilion, and we have constructed a specialized dome for our 60cm telescope. Excitingly, we recently completed the new pavilion dedicated to the state-of-the-art "Milanković" telescope, which boasts a 1.4-meter aperture along with an automated dome and technical equipment for efficient operation.
One of the key advantages of AS Vidojevica is its location in one of the few remaining areas in Serbia that features a remarkably dark night sky, ideal for astronomical observations. This year, we are launching a detailed measuring campaign to assess the astro-climate conditions of our location, ensuring optimal usage of our advanced instruments.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Temperature | 21.9 °C |
| Pressure | 888.1 mb |
| Humidity | 62% |
| Dew Point | 14.3 °C |
| Wind Speed | 1.3 m/s |
| Wind Direction | ENE |
| Solar Radiation | 603 W/m² |
| UV Index | 4.1 |
To adapt to the dynamic weather conditions, an automatic meteorological station, all-sky camera, and seeing monitor are meticulously positioned on the summit. Specific pavilion closing limits are in place to ensure safety and optimal observation conditions, including humidity levels and wind speed thresholds.
Join us at Astronomical Station Vidojevica, where we combine state-of-the-art technology with the wonders of the universe, facilitating both professional and enthusiastic exploration of the night sky!
