Die Kathedrale St. Johannes der Täufer in Maribor ist die Bischofskirche des Erzbistums Maribor. Sie wurde 1248 im romanischen Stil errichtet und im 14. Jahrhundert im Chor gotisch verlängert. Im 15. Jahrhundert wurde sie komplett gotisch umgebaut. Später folgten noch barocke Kapellenanbauten. Der Glockenturm wurde im 18. Jahrhundert nach einem Blitzschlag im klassizistischen Stil neu errichtet. Die Kirche ist reich mit Kunstwerken aus dem 15. bis 17. Jahrhundert ausgestattet. Viele Statuen und Bildnisse sind unglaublich lebendig und detailreich gestaltet. Eine absolut sehenswerte gotische Kirche. Vom ehemaligen Friedhof um die Kirche ist noch das ewige Licht rechts neben der Kirche und zahlreiche in die Kirchenwand eingemauerte Grabsteine erhalten.

A really very nice church. If you are in Maribor, you have to see it, even if, in my opinion, it's not the most beautiful place of worship of the city, but it's still beautiful to see it for sure, internally in particular.

Maribor je drugi po veličini grad u Sloveniji, i sigurno jednako lijep na jedan poseban,starinski način.Predivan stari grad,sa velikim trgom okružen radnjicama,kafeterijama,restoranima.Definitivno ga morate posjetiti na putu u Sloveniju.Tu su i stare vinarije koje morate vidjeti.
