Muzej Apoksiomena, smješten u srcu Malog Lošinja, jedinstvena je kulturna ustanova posvećena antičkom brončanom kipu mladog atlete, Apoksiomena, koji je slučajno pronađen u podmorju kod otočića Vele Orjule 1996. godine. Iako se čini neobično da cijeli muzej bude posvećen jednom artefaktu, Muzej Apoksiomena opravdava ovu neobičnost vrhunskom prezentacijom, atmosferom i interaktivnim pristupom. Muzej je izuzetno informativan. Svaka faza Apoksiomenove priče, od antičke Grčke, preko njegovog potonuća, do modernog otkrića i restauracije, predstavljena je jasno, zanimljivo i pristupačno. Informacije su dostupne na nekoliko jezika, uključujući hrvatski i engleski, a dostupne su i aplikacije i vodiči za djecu i odrasle.

The Apoxyomenos Museum is the only European museum with only one exhibit and is definitely worth a visit. A bronze sculpture of a young and handsome athlete from the Hellenistic period, it is the most spectacular and valuable archaeological find on the eastern coast of the Adriatic. The statue was found at a depth of 45 meters underwater in the Lošinj archipelago. This is a Greek work of exceptional preservation and special beauty of execution. It is assumed that it dates back to the 2nd or 1st century BC. In addition, on the ground floor of the museum in the Kvarner Palace is the White Apoxyomenos - a replica of the statue of Apoxyomenos. It is a tactile sculpture intended for blind and visually impaired people. The White Apoxyomenos is 96 centimeters high with a 4 centimeter pedestal.

Wir hatten noch ein paar Minuten Zeit und beschlossen spontan das Museum zu besuchen. Ein Muss! Gutgemachte Ausstellung zur Bronzestatue. Aber das Beste ist die Aufmachung! Wer auch immer sich um den Ausbau gekümmert hat bekommt fünf Sterne. Selten so eine atemberaubende Umgebung gesehen. Jeder Raum ein Erlebnis und vieles mit lokalen Baumaterialien wie Olivenholz. Mit dem Eintritt erhält man einen zusätzlichen freien Eintritt in eins der zugehörigen drei oder vier der anderen Museen zum Beispiel in Osor.

Ein wirklich magischer Ort, wenn du vor der Statue stehst und auch verstehst was die Künstler da vor tausenden von Jahren geschaffen haben. Viele der damals angewandten Technologien sind heute noch im Einsatz und werden heute als HighTech vermarktet.
