I’m just home from a great holiday in Split/Podstrana. I must admit I was a little sceptical about this hotel as there were no recent reviews however as soon as we arrived I was put at ease! Our room was very spacious and modern. In the online images the pool looks rather small however it was perfect for us and although there was only 6 sun loungers we never had an issue at getting a bed (group of 3). You can pay to use the next door hotel facilities however it’s around £30 a day. The beach is a 2 min walk from the hotel but it is pebbles so bring water shoes. We dined in Podstana twice on the beach along to the left and one of our favourite restaurants of the holiday was located there (Kuzina). Our room was cleaned daily which was fab - they provide you with clean towels if you need them. We had breakfast included which consisted of a small buffet (hot and cold) every morning running from 7am-10am which was ideal and it had plenty of choice. We used the local bus which runs every 30mins from a bus stop only a 2 min walk from the hotel (number 60) or Ubers which were much cheaper than taxis every day to get in and out of Split which were both so simple to use. Worked out around £1.40 for a single to Split on the bus and they run until 12.30am. Would definitely return a great holiday and location!

We stayed here for 10 days in a single bed apartment. The apartment was great. It had everything we needed. We were on the top floor and had a partial view of the sea from our balcony. |The cleaners came in most days and changed towels ( maybe more than was necessary tbh) and the bedding was changed mid stay. ||It’s strange to describe the place as a hotel as it doesn’t have much in the way of amenities. Reception staff are helpful but reception is tiny. It does what it needs to do. There is a pool but it’s very small with only a handful of sun beds but we hardly saw anyone in there. The beach is so close that you don’t need the pool. |There is a restaurant below the hotel, Porto Spalato, which is fabulous but isn’t part of the hotel. The food was fantastic but it was never very full, perhaps because it’s quite hidden. ||The Residence seems to be lost in the grounds of the bigger Meridian Hotel complex. This hotel is much larger and has a number of bars, restaurants, a large pool, gym and so on. They also take over a large part of the nearest beach with their sun beds. |Other reviews suggest you can use the Meridian’s facilities. That’s true but as of 2025 it costs €45 per person per day. That’s quite a lot if you just want a dubbed. ||For a less costly bed and brolly walk 10 mins down the front and you’ll find some reasonable places where you can hire beds for the day. ||We found most of the restaurants around here were quite basic and if you wanted more than pasta and pizza you should head into Split. ||Split is quite close and the bus works well although the traffic on the main road is hellish. There always seems to be a queue going in one direction or the other. ||A 15 minute walk up the sea front gets you to a busier beach by the Hotel Split and a little further on we found Avere Tourism: a great place to book trips and hire transport. We booked a couple of trips here and we were picked up locally which was better than making your own way into Split. |We also hired a scooter from Avere for a couple of days which was great for getting around and cutting through the traffic.||Anyway, the apartment was fab. It would have benefitted from a bar, somewhere to have a coffee or a nightcap before turning in for the night but, overall, we couldn’t find fault.
