Deeply Disappointing – Looks the Part but That’s Where It Ends We were drawn in by the setting and promise of fine dining, but unfortunately Black Pepper turned out to be one of the worst meals we’ve had on any holiday. The food was shockingly poor. I ordered the Octotopia expecting something thoughtful and well-prepared. What arrived was barely edible. The octopus was so overcooked it was almost impossible to chew, and the “confit potatoes” were completely raw in the centre. It was as if no one in the kitchen had actually tasted the dish before sending it out. We also ordered the tomato and burrata starter which was another let-down. Instead of actual burrata, they served a tasteless cream and tried to pass it off as something special. It felt lazy and misleading. To make matters worse, the staff seemed totally untrained. Every question was answered by reading back what was printed on the menu, word for word. There was no understanding, no recommendations, and no awareness of how poorly the food was received. We left as soon as we could. There are plenty of places in Hvar that serve genuinely good food with warm service. This isn’t one of them. Black Pepper is all about appearances and none of the substance. Avoid.

An Absolute Scam of a Restaurant – Steer Clear Black Pepper in Hvar is an embarrassment that somehow still gets away with calling itself fine dining. It’s not. It’s a sham. A complete tourist trap that survives off location and unsuspecting visitors who don’t know any better. The Octotopia main was flat-out inedible. Not “not to my taste” – genuinely inedible. The octopus was so overcooked it could have been mistaken for rubber. The potatoes were raw, not undercooked, raw. How this left a professional kitchen is beyond me. I sent it back and should’ve walked out then and there. The tomato and burrata starter? No burrata at all. Just a smear of what they call burrata cream, which might as well have been milk mixed with disappointment. It was lazy, dishonest, and tasteless. The service? Clueless. Ask a question and you’ll get the menu read back to you like they’re trying to pass an English exam. No idea what’s in the dishes, no interest in finding out, and not a shred of hospitality in sight. We left after the mains and honestly, that was the highlight of the night – leaving. Don’t waste your time, your money, or your appetite here. You’ll find better food and service at a ferry terminal. This place is a con and people deserve to know it.

Ein stilvolles Restaurant mit wunderschönem Ambiente und sehr aufmerksamen Service – im Black Pepper fühlt man sich definitiv willkommen. Die Vorspeisen waren köstlich und kreativ angerichtet – ein echtes Highlight! Ich hatte gelesen, dass ein bekannter Koch neu dabei ist, was man auch an den modernen Einflüssen auf der Karte merkt. Trotzdem muss ich sagen: Die frühere Speisekarte hat mir persönlich besser gefallen. Die Hauptspeisen konnten diesmal leider nicht ganz überzeugen – geschmacklich okay, aber für den Preis von durchschnittlich 40–50 Euro pro Person einfach nicht gerechtfertigt.

Posjet restoranu Black Pepper na Hvaru bilo je jedno od onih iskustava koja dugo ostaju u sjećanju. Moja sestra i ja smo večerale tamo i apsolutno uživale u svakom trenutku – od predivnog ambijenta do besprijekorno pripremljene hrane. Večer smo započele s beefsteak tartarom koji nas je potpuno oduševio kombinacijom okusa – svježina mesa, začini i pažljivo odabrani sastojci stvorili su savršen uvod u ostatak večere. Za glavno jelo, sestra je naručila steak, i kao velika ljubiteljica istog, imala je visoka očekivanja – koja su bila i više nego nadmašena. Posebno je pohvalila pire od pastrnjaka i krokete koji su savršeno zaokružili jelo. Ja sam odabrala salatu od hobotnice – laganu, svježu i idealnu za tople ljetne večeri nakon dana provedenog istražujući Hvar. Na kraju smo podijelile tiramisu s lavandom – i to je bio pun pogodak. Osvježavajuće, lagano, drugačije – pravi desert iz snova. Osim izvrsne hrane, moramo pohvaliti i osoblje – izuzetno ljubazni i pažljivi konobari pobrinuli su se da se osjećamo ugodno kroz cijelu večeru. Sve u svemu – samo riječi hvale. Ako ste na Hvaru i tražite mjesto gdje ćete doživjeti pravu kulinarsku čaroliju, Black Pepper je definitivno restoran koji ne smijete propustiti. Definitivno preporučujemo ovaj restoran!
