This was genuinely one of the worst border crossing experiences I have ever experienced. Travelling on a public bus from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik. Although the process was quick for such a large bus, I was interrogated by one of the Bosnian border officers who immediately insisted that he was going to search all my luggage in a very intimidating and unprofessional manner asking if I was carrying drugs, pushing threats of sniffer dogs and court charges before even conducting a proper search. After repeatedly saying no to his questions regarding "drug smuggling", he then proceeded to state that he all of a sudden "believed me" without even conducting the search he was so adamant he was going to do, before proceeding to then interrogate the next passenger they didn't seem to like. They interrogated a total of 5-6 passengers out of 50-60 passengers, all were males between 20-40. If you are a solo male traveller, I would prepare for potential interrogation and questioning even if you don't expect it.

Border Crossing Point - went with a Coach Bus Tour. Upon entry to B&H (leaving Croatia), everybody has to get off and passports was personally checked one by one so that took a lot of time for us although we were lucky we were the first coach buses that went through so we didn’t wait for hours just to enter the country. Exiting B&H and entering back to Croatia was simpler as the guides took all of our documents and we didn’t have to get off the bus again. Our coach mostly has EU residents, Non-EU non-local passport but resides in EU and few with visa-free passport as well.

Very fast passing through the border . When leaving Dubrovnik, we had to get off the bus and have our documents checked. While on entering Dubrovnik, our tour guide got our documents and had them checked.

Easy border crossing. Took 5 minutes to pass in the middle of June.

As always, the Croatian side has very unfriendly staff. The lady in the second gate was very inattentive and was watching videos on her phone, so we missed the fact that anyone was even there. We almost drove past the second checkpoint without stopping. We were also asked several times how long we were staying in Croatia and where we wanted to go. These questions are completely irrelevant for Austrian citizens. The border guards tried to provoke us with such questions. I hope the government is reading this and does something about it.

Be very careful, that the Croatian and Bosnian authorities are under the same roof. And unless you specifically ask to get the Bosnian stamp, they will not give it to you. If you later want to travel to / from Bosnia through any other border crossing than Neum, and want to avoid problems, you should insist on receiving the Bosnian stamp here. Otherwise you may be accused of illegal entry. The Bosnian side looks as if it's closed, but it's not (and the barrier is permanently lifted). The Croatian border guard said about his Bosnian counterparts "they work, but not very hard".
