Parkeren in Rovinj was altijd erg goed en betaalbaar. Helaas denkt met name Istrie daar nu anders over. De prijzen slaan echt door en je ziet daardoor al veel minder toeristen en de middenstand klaagt. Paar uurtjes parkeren kost ons €14,- dat zijn nagenoeg Nederlandse tarieven. Belachelijk en onnodig, voor de euro was wel anders

I have been parking in Rovinj for over 5 years and I know the rules about locals having permits and therefore the first car park can look empty but the spaces are reserved for locals. Totally understand. I was heading for the second car park which is for overflow and tourist in the high season. The parking had a green arrow indicating that there were spaces. Parking guy in high vis said it’s full. I tried to explain how is it full if there is NO red arrow. He said no it’s full. I drove in anyway because I knew I would get in. I parked and there were loads of spaces three in a row when I parked. I then asked him why he said it was full when there were loads of spaces and he just started to swear in Croatian. Well done, super professional. Date 23/7/25. Time 12:15pm.

UPDATE! Parking in Rovinj can quickly become a pretty expensive exercise. As far as I have seen, you either have to pay high hourly rates (depending on high or low season 2 or 3 Euros per hour). But it is possible to book full day tickets for the price of 25 euros per day. I could not find a way to book such a ticket at the ticket machine but there are other Options: right at the ticket machine, there are two QR codes. One QR code can be scanned and you can book hours for your stay on your mobile, without the need to install an app. The second QR code leads you to a website, where you can book full days online without having to install an app. Important: you book 24 hours and not calendar days. This means, if you book in the afternoon at 14:00 for one day, the ticket is valid until the next day 13:59! To book, you need to enter your car license plate. You can also book full day tickets at this cashier. There you will need to register with your license plate and pay in advance. It is just a bit more effort to get there and register. I found the online solution quick and easy.
