Ein internationaler Hauptstadtflughafen sollte als Tor zum Land fungieren und die Menschen und Kultur des Landes repräsentieren. Der Flughafen Belgrad schafft dies leider in keiner Weise, man könnte sogar sagen, er ist eine Blamage für Serbien. Das Terminal sieht von außen sehr schön aus mit seiner Glasfassade, innen hat es allerdings maximal den Charme eines Altkleidercontainers. Das gastronomische Angebot ist unterirdisch, das durchweg lustlose und unfreundliche Personal hat offenbar noch nie was von Lächeln gehört. An vielen Stellen herrscht eine durchwachsene Sauberkeit, zudem gibt es Wegweiser, die ins Nichts führen. Vor dem Flughafen geht die Misere weiter. Es gibt keinerlei Wegweiser, wo man seinen Mietwagen abholen oder zurückbringen soll und um dort hinzugelangen, ist eine vielbefahrene Straße ohne Zebrastreifen oder sonstige Sicherheitsmaßnahmen für Fußgänger zu queren. Die Mietwagenfirmen befinden sich in heruntergekommenen Containern, um die herum bei Regen Wasserpfützen und Schlamm stehen. Das Ganze hat eher die Optik einer Baustelle als eines Ortes, wo international renommierte Autovermieter zu finden sind. Insgesamt ist der Flughafen Belgrad leider eine mittlere Katastrophe und eine Blamage für dieses sonst so tolle Land.

Lack of responsibility from security services at Nikola Tesla Airport following a situation during my departure on the 1st of August.
Shortly after shopping at Duty Free, I realized I had accidentally left my cellphone at one of the fragrance counters.
I immediately returned to the counter where I paid items purchased at Duty-free thinking I left it there at first and staff confirmed no phone had been left on the counter and directed me to seek assistance from airport security.
I located a security officer who confirmed a cellphone had indeed been found in the fragrance area — but shockingly, he claimed he doesn't know who had taken it or where it is ?!
Instead of taking responsibility or escalating the matter, he redirected me back to the retail counter where I just got from and has nothing to do with lost & found belongings.
When I explained I had already checked there, he sent me to the security checkpoint — which was completely unattended at that moment.
Left without guidance, I returned to the retail side, where one helpful Duty Free staff member allowed me to use his phone to try and call my number and see if someone will pick up.
Multiple attempts were made, but no one answered. Meanwhile, valuable time was lost and boarding for my flight was ongoing.
Eventually, a staff member from Duty-free spotted the security officer responsible — who was not at his post but instead sitting in a corner, watching Instagram reels on his phone ?!
When I asked him about my phone, he casually mentioned that he had left it in the drawer at the security checkpoint where he should have been stationed all along.
This entire experience was a bit shocking. The lack of accountability, professionalism, and urgency from the security staff was concerning. At no point did I feel supported or assured that the team on duty was following proper airport security protocol. For an international airport, such disorganization is alarming and does not reflect the level of service or responsibility one expects from airport personnel.
