The kind of place I love. I got there at about 7.30 on a Monday night in November without a reservation and managed to get the last available seat. Staff were super-friendly, and combined professionalism with a good sense of fun and a genuine desire for their customers to have a great experience. I had the raw fillet steak to start, which was delicious albeit very much focused on quality rather than quantity. It was accompanied by a small loaf of bread which they dampen and put on the barbecue. Sounds a bit odd but it was very tasty and was great to mop up the oils and Parmesan left from the raw fillet. For my main course I went for the special Colt steak. Not something I will be mentioning to my vegetarian daughter, and my first time eating horse, but it was really delicious. Also had a bottle of local wine, recommended by the waitress, which was a perfect match. Bill came to 66 Euros, which isn't the cheapest in Ljubljana, but you'd pay way more in London or Paris. If I go back to Ljubljana with friends or family I'll definitely go back to Compa.

"Steakhouse" is an understatement for this place. Steakheaven would be more appropriate. They forgot our reservation; but, we got treated more professional and friendly by service and kitchen than I could ever have imagined. We got to try almost all their starters, which are exceptional. After, we had the beef filet, pork steak and colt filet which were at the level of premium patagonian steaks I tasted in Argentina and Chile. In the end, we had a few Schnaps' with Roberto, the boss, on the house. Exceptional to every degree, we visited again two days later and it was just as great.

Very good food from a meat-focused menu, with friendly staff. However, you should bring time as the service is not the quickest (waiting for more than one hour for the main course). And for Ljubljana relatively expensive. (Small piece of bread for 1€)

It is perfect. I've eaten all over the world in dive bars to three star haute cuisine temples. Compa is without a doubt within the top five places I've ever eaten. It is exactly what you want in a meal. Seasonal local ingredients cooked in the local style made with love (garlic) served by somebody who has a deep passion for what they do and wants to see you enjoy the meal. It is just perfect. If you don't enjoy your experience that's a you problem. 10000% recommended.
