Peter Anton was the founder of the Codelli branch of Ljubljana. In Carinthia he enriched himself with ironworks and in Ljubljana engaged in wholesale trade and acquired Carinthia (1698) and Carniolan (1700) citizenship. In 1700 he bought the Turn manor, today's Kodeljevo. He supported the development of Slavism and supported John the Baptist in publishing his works.
Because he had no children, he left his property to his nephew Augustine. Augustine's parents were living in poverty and after a sudden enrichment, Augustine turned to charity. He was especially supportive of the advancement of church institutions and was celebrated as a great donor. Thus, he supported the establishment of the Archdiocese of Gorizia, and so ruler Maria Theresa allowed him to nominate a candidate for the first Archbishop of Gorizia, and in 1749 he was promoted to the hereditary baronical title.
Augustine's sons Anton and Franc conceived two branches of the Codelli. Anton continued the branch of Carniola (Ljubljana), with the central Turn estate (Kodeljevo), and Francis the younger branch of Gorizia, which still dominates the Moš estate today.
Representatives of the Ljubljana branch of the Codelli family held important positions in Carniola, including as mayor of Ljubljana, county mayor and provincial governor. The most recognized last representative of this branch is the inventor Anton Codelli. Representatives of the Gorizia branch, Francet's son Peter-Anton and grandson Augustine established themselves as Gorizia's chair and schoolboy.
