Nice, clean, modern looking interior and friendly staff make this restaurant a very pleasant place to eat. The food is a combination of the traditional meals with an elegant modern arrangement. Very tasty and at a reasonable price. They also have a decent collection of wine.

Origano has been my favorite restaurant for enjoying lunch during the workday for the past four years. They were a place where I could regularly enjoy good food and friendly service. I would have given them 4 and more stars if I were writing this review 1 year ago.
However, in the last year, I have had a plethora of poor experiences with them. Let me just mention two such examples from the last two weeks alone:
Today (Friday) I arrived to the restaurant with five coworkers. We arrived a little later than usual (12:45-ish), and unfortunately they had already run out of the two top items on their menu. We ordered from what was still available, and I ordered meatballs, which were going to be served with pasta instead of mashed potato, because they run out of that as well.
The real issues started when they served the salads. Usually they serve all salads unseasoned. This time the salad was already full of vinegar without warning. I didn't season it additionally, I rarely do. When I emptied the bowl, there was still half a centimeter of vinegar left inside. Emptying that bowl was a shocking experience.
The issues continue as we start to receive our main dishes. My colleagues received their pizzas and vegetable pad thais. By the time they were finishing their food, I was still waiting for my meatballs with pasta. When I warn the waitress that I was still waiting, she bluntly apologizes and says “Why didn’t you tell me?”, as if it was my mistake that she missed out that I was left without food. I then receive my food and start eating is hastily while my coworkers wait for me.
When we received the bill, the waitress didn’t mutter a word of apology for the late service, and doesn’t offer any discount.
Mistakes happen, but when these mistakes cause a poor experience to their customers, it is customary to profusely apologize and offer a discount.
This is NOT the first time this happens. In the last few months I can recall at least two times when one of us didn’t receive their meal until everyone else was finished with theirs.
My second example of a poor customer experience was from only the week before! On the menu they offer “Kaneloni s šobsko solato” (cannelloni with šobska salad). The way the word is written in Slovenian, it suggests three or more cannelloni. I received only one cannelloni and about three spoonfuls of šobska salad, enough to fill a kid. After I finished the meal, the waiter kindly (with irony?) asks if I filled myself, to which I reply negatively. He offers to bring me an extra portion, to which I tell him that a complete portion could be slightly excessive, but that I would appreciate a little more. He says not to worry, and goes to the kitchen. A minute later he is back, and says that he can give me an extra cannelloni, and that he would give a discount for it at the end. This surprised me, as I wasn’t expecting that I would have to pay extra, especially as the original meal was impossibly insufficient for an adult (and substantially smaller than their regular meal size). As I was still very hungry, I agreed despite the extra charge.
Such incidents have been plaguing this restaurant for the past year. This summer they have frequently forgotten to bring us our beverages. Outside it was over 30 degrees celsius and inside the restaurant barely any less. When we reminded them that we were thirsty, and my mouth was so dry I had to suspend eating, and sweat was pouring from every pore on my body, they still took 10 more minutes to bring a glass of water.
Origano used to be my favorite restaurant for lunch. They used to consistently serve good food and had friendly and good service. In the last twelve months or so, the service has gone south. Apparently there has been a change of ownership, and also all the waiters have been replaced a while ago. Since then, Origano is no longer what it used to be. I can’t recommend this one to people who work in the vicinity, at least for their lunch-time service.
