This restaurant was amazing! The food was very authentic and they even have their own wine. Our waitress was very kind and suggested many delicious things to us. We had a fish platter, it tasted great and fresh! I recommend this restaurant.

It started really nice, the hostess was friendly and the atmosphere light. My partner ordered some starters like the fish soup and some anchovies and sardines, but then turned out it was very clear it came out of a can. I ordered the lamb, which took 1 hour to prepare with only a side potato. It felt frozen and full of fat. The worst thing was that they charge you for every extra which you would expect to be free. Potatoes 5€, bread which they convince its free: 3€, tap water, 5€. Don’t go there, it’s a tourist trap!

Što reći za najbolju hranu koju smo probali na cijelome Visu. Usluga, ambijent također za čistu 5! Ukoliko se opet vratimo na Vis, restoran ne mijenjamo. Same pohvale! Bravo! ❤️

Ljubazni vlasnik nas je uputio u specijalitete koji su bili u ponudi , ali mi smo se držali klasičnih stvari. Prženi gavuni su bili odlični kao predjelo, a lignje i orada zaslužuju sve pohvale. Uz odlično domaće crno vino u opuštenoj atmosferi, proveli smo divno veče. Domaćin nas je počastio na kraju sa odličnom orahovačom. Sve preporuke za Gostionu Vis!

Musieliśmy chwilę poczekać na stolik lecz Pan który nas obsługiwał był bardzo miły opowiedział historię restauracji. Na jedzenie nie trzeba długo czekać jest świeże i bardzo smaczne. Polecam na romantyczną kolację lub obiad.

Mussels in buzara was great. Also the sea bass was good. But rest of the meals which we had like pasta, risotto and especially fish and tomato soups were nothing special for us. Taste of tomato soup was very poor, like water. And the thing what suprised me the most, was totally DIRTY glasses. Home wine was very good.

Mixed Feelings at Gostiona Vis I’ve been coming to Croatia every year since I was a kid, so I know and love proper Dalmatian food — which makes this review a bit tough to write. We visited Gostiona Vis, and while some things were okay (like the sea bass and dagnje na buzaru), the rest of the meal just didn’t live up to expectations. The spaghetti was cooked well, but the pomodoro sauce tasted more like soup. Even worse, it felt like the same sauce was reused for multiple dishes — spaghetti, risotto, and maybe even a starter? That’s not what I’d expect from a place claiming to serve “typical Croatian cuisine.” The chef said this was authentic, but honestly, it was one of the weakest meals I’ve had in Croatia — and that made me kind of sad. Important tip: the waitress might offer you a “family-style” service because of the small kitchen. It sounds nice in theory, but make sure to ask about the prices upfront — the bill can be a surprise, and not the good kind. All in all, not terrible, but not a place I’d return to.

One of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived with our kids, the tone was set – the waitress made it very clear that children were not welcome. Not exactly a warm start. The food only made things worse. The fish soup tasted like it had been reheated several times, totally overcooked and lacking flavor. The tomato soup was equally lifeless. The red risotto with shrimp? It was basically plain rice drowned in tomato passata, with the tiniest shrimp imaginable – like they came from a can. The pasta with tomato sauce was bland and uninspired. To be fair, the wine was good, and the grilled fish was actually decent. But then came the worst part: when my husband politely gave honest feedback about the food, the owner told him he was “not a good person” for speaking the truth. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, he chose to insult us and bring the bill without a word. They did remove the fish soup from the bill – probably because they knew how bad it was – but that doesn’t make up for the overall experience. Good wine, okay fish… but the attitude, food quality, and unwelcoming atmosphere – especially toward families – make this a definite never again.

I will never eat in this restaurant again. We had 10 people at the table. Fish soup was terrible, tomato soup as well. All other meals below average. On the other hand, seabass was good. Waitress looked annoyed the whole time and the owner got pissed after our feedback. Well, never again

This is NOT Dalmacia. BEWARE! Where to start. It is really hard, because I love Croatia, Dalmatia and croatian food. This is pure “let me give you family experience and give you worst soup and pasta of your life” experience. Soup? Just a water without the taste. Every single “cheap” bistro in Croatia gives you better fish or tomato stew. Pasta with tomato? Just use the tomato water “soup” and add linguine. This is their imagination of pasta. Shrimp risotto? Just use a tomato water “soup” and add rice. To be honest, home wine was ok. Fish (sea bass) was good. Lady (service) was trying her best. They do not want to see me in their restaurant anymore (i gave them feedback), and guess what - I will not visit this tourist trap anymore, I visited better food in Croatia anytime and anywhere. This is Croatian shame - this is not their family food.

Soooooo good. Everything was amazing and local. I've never liked octopus before, but the octopus salad here is tender and tasty. The tuna steak is perfect. The homemade wine is exceptional. Tonchi (Ante), the owner, treated us like royalty. Definitely worth a return visit!

Serves traditional Croatian family style food - you are encouraged to share with others. Founded in the 40's it is run by the 4th generation of the same family. Owner is super friendly. Wine is excellent and comes from his own vineyards. Highly recommend
