This stairway was built in 1531 by Petar Kružić, a Croatian military leader, and was originally intended as a pilgrimage route leading to the Church of Our Lady of Trsat. The staircase consists of 561 stone steps and ascends to the Trsat Hill, which rises 138 meters above sea level. At the base of the stairs is a baroque-style arched entrance, built in the early 18th century, reminiscent of a small triumphal arch. Along the stairway, visitors will find several chapels constructed between the 15th and 18th centuries, enriching the spiritual journey for pilgrims. As you climb, you can also enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, making the ascent both a physical and contemplative experience.

Długie, składające się 561 kamiennych stopni schody, które prowadzą do górującej nad miastem twierdzy Trsat. Budowę schodów rozpoczął Petar Kružić - chorwacki kapitan, który wsławił się w bitwach z Turkami o obronę morza i bałkańskiego wybrzeża. Schody prowadzą od barokowej bramy-kaplicy aż do kościoła Matki Boskiej z Trsat - XV-wiecznej świątyni, którą w 2003 roku odwiedził Papież Polak św. Jan Paweł II podczas swojej setnej podróży apostolskiej.
