Nothing really special about this fountain. Looks better during night time when it is color lit. During summer hot days, it is a great spot to refill your bottle with cool water.

🇬🇧 Very nice Fountain
One of the main attractions of Dubrovnik and a place that probably everyone knows.
It is worth coming here and if someone wants a good photo, it is worth coming early in the morning.

A Stunning Welcome to Dubrovnik’s Old Town
Onofrio’s Large Fountain is a true gem and the perfect introduction to Dubrovnik’s Old Town! Located just inside the Pile Gate, it’s the first thing you see—and it doesn’t disappoint. The 15th-century architecture is impressive, with 16 beautifully carved stone masks and a peaceful circular design that invites you to pause and take it all in.
It’s not just a photo spot—it’s a piece of living history. The fact that it was part of a 12-kilometer water system built in the 1400s is mind-blowing. And yes, the water is still drinkable and refreshingly cool on a hot day!
Whether you're starting your walk down the Stradun or just taking a break, this fountain is a must-see. A perfect blend of beauty, history, and functionality. The water from the tap is fresh and safe to drink--bring a refillable water bottle on your trip!

This of Dubrovnik’s most famous landmarks. The circular fountain was built in 1438 as part of a water-supply system that involved bringing water from a spring 12km away. Originally the fountain was adorned with sculptures, but it was heavily damaged in the 1667 earthquake and only 16 carved masks remain, with their mouths dribbling drinkable water into a drainage pool.
The fountain now serves as a relaxing/resting area or a meeting point for the throngs of tourists that come to visit the Old City of Dubrovnik. Good experience to be here.

Warto podejść bliżej i zobaczyć rzeźbione maski.

Fontanna duza, majestatyczna..woda płynie niestety jedynie do ochłodzenia dłoni wąskim strumieniem z kilku małych kranikow , ale woda za to bardzo rześka.
