About Us

The Trieste International Foundation (FIT) is dedicated to the progress and freedom of science. Established in 1961, we strive to promote and enhance scientific and technological initiatives through collaboration with university institutions and research centers. Our mission revolves around fostering an environment of freedom for science and the peaceful applications of scientific knowledge.

Activities and Initiatives

FIT plays a crucial role in the dissemination of scientific knowledge, encouraging the transfer of scientific and technological advancements. We serve as the administrative secretariat of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, which is the only international organization directly managed by the scientific community.

Among our key projects, we support the OGS in managing the Trieste Laboratory on Quantitative Sustainability, contributing to sustainable development initiatives in the region. The Trieste System, comprised of the leading scientific institutions in the city, is recognized globally as a significant contributor to sustainable development efforts.

Workshops and Events

Our workshops aim to facilitate knowledge transfer and cultivate relationships within the scientific community. We organize various events, including past notable occurrences like ESOF 2020. These events not only strengthen local collaborations but also enhance international connections within the scientific landscape.
