Najlepša cerkev v Ljubljani, postavljena pri edinem mostu na katerem rastejo drevesa.

Lokacija, vredna ogleda, zaradi arhitekturne zasnove cerkve in okolice, ki jo poživi Gradaščica, par in drevored iz centra mesta.

Very interesting church in Trnovo. Lovely and peaceful location next to the Gradascica river. The original church of Thorn was built in 1753 by architect Candido Zulliani. Only a few paintings have been preserved, including the paintings of Sts. John the Baptist and St. Anton, painted by Valentin Metzinger.
The present church was erected from 1854 to 1857. Its present, neo-Romanesque appearance was obtained after the earthquake of 1895, when it was rebuilt according to the plans of architect Raimund Jeblinger.
One of the most famous romantic stories in Ljubljana is connected with the history of the church. In front of the church, Slovenian poet France Prešeren, one of the greats of 19th-century romantic art and author of the Slovenian national anthem, first met his muse Julia Primic and fell in love with her instantly. Prešeren was hopelessly in love with Julia for many years, but all this time, under the auspices of her strict parents, she lived in her closed bourgeois family circle and did not return his love. A series of his sonnet-shaped poems are dedicated to Julia.
The church has two high bell towers, one of which was climbed by a Slovenian climber and mountaineer Tomaz Humar.
