Prijateljica i ja smo otišle na Dane Orient Ekpress-a ,popodnevnog čaja,pocetkom 6.mj . Bili smo jedno izvjesno vrijeme zanemareni,iako smo imali rezervirani termin,najavu. Ali sve se to popravilo pojavom gospodina Tomislava Tržića. Fascinantna osoba konobar broj 1, uz saradnju gospođe šefice kuhinje, napravio je takav ugođaj, da smo na kraju bile sretne što smo ipak došli. Hotel Esplanada takvu osobu treba izvanredno cijeniti , da bude primjer i uzor ostalim zaposlenima.

Un pur moment de détente passé au bar de l'hôtel où nous avons pris deux cocktails extrêmement bons. Les salles sont magnifiques, à l'image des clients de l'orient express qui sejournaient ici. Service très professionnel et mention spéciale au concierge très agréable et accueillant (et sa moustache) ;)

This centenary hotel is perfectly located in Zagreb. Walking distance from downtown and close to the train station for an easy arrival / departure to Zagreb. The hotel itself is magnificent with a friendly staff and Michelin star restaurants Breakfast is superb with a vast selection of food in the buffet or a la carte. This was a perfect destination for our family trip and surely the rating would be higher if they had a pool as this hotel really deserves a pool

This hotel was amazing! Location, service -- great value for the money. The city center was about a 20 minute walk. The breakfast was probably the best I’ve had at a hotel. Everything was fresh, local and again the service was 5 stars.

We have stayed numerous times at the Esplanade. Built to host visitors traveling on the Orient Express, it retains its elegance and charm. The hotel's star restaurant, Zinfandel, is superb, with delicious gourmet dishes served in a beautiful, serene dining room by wonderful professional wait staff. Outstanding in every respect!

Thank you team for the truly memorable stay in your Hotel. We liked that the staff are warm, kind and professional and that the room was very clean with a nice clean scent. Wow just wow, we did our usual of shortlisting 5 or so hotels and ended up choosing the Esplanade and boy did we make a good choice, especially in this it's 100th year. ||When you first depart the hotel and as you are walking out and a security detail are bringing in the Croatian Prime Minister you know its a bit special. ||The room is impressive, spacious and the bed the size of some hotel rooms. The bathroom, again the size of some rooms I've slept in has separate stalls for toilet and shower and also two basins and a bath. I can't say enough good things about here, the history, the presentation, the staff it's all top tier.

Wunderschönes Hotel an zentraler Lage. Ein sehr schöner Charme. Die Angestellten waren äusserst freundlich und zuvorkommend. unser E-Auto konnten wir kostenlos beim Hotel laden. Das Zimmer war sauber und die Betten sehr bequem. Wir hatten ein wunderschönes und geräumiges Zimmer. Das Morgenessen war zwar fantastisch aber die Auswahl ist für ein 5 Sterne Hotel sehr sehr klein. Da ist defintiv Verbesserungsbedarf. Was auch zu verbessern ist für ein 5 Sterne Hotel ist die Koordination von den Concierge am Eingang. Wirkte etwas chaotisch und unkoordiniert. Normalerweise sollte immer jemand an der Tür stehen der die Türe aufmacht. Wir hatten die Türe öfters selber aufgemacht als das jemand vom Personal dies tat.

Wir waren zu viert im Esplanade-Hotel Zagreb und hatten zwei Zimmer gebucht – eigentlich zwei identische, doch die Realität sah anders aus. Das Zimmer unserer Kinder war schön groß, fast nichts zu beanstanden, abgesehen davon, dass das Display des Thermostats defekt war. Die Klimaanlage konnte nicht selbst bedient werden – man musste jedes Mal die Rezeption anrufen, um sie ein- oder auszuschalten. Für ein 5-Sterne-Hotel absolut ungenügend. Unser eigenes Zimmer war deutlich kleiner, obwohl gleich gebucht. Es gab zunächst nur zwei kleine, flache Polster und eine Bettdecke – für zwei Erwachsene. Eine Zumutung. Wir haben schlecht geschlafen. Erst am nächsten Tag brachte uns eine freundliche Reinigungsdame (die sich immerhin entschuldigte) zusätzliche Decke und Polster. Offenbar war unser Zimmer im System nur für eine Person eingetragen – bei einer Buchung für zwei Erwachsene ein gravierender Fehler. Der Room-Service war eine Katastrophe. Wir wollten spät abends noch etwas zu essen bestellen – doch niemand nahm das Telefon ab. Mehrmaliges Anrufen blieb erfolglos. Der Concierge konnte uns auch nicht helfen, verwies nur wieder auf den nicht erreichbaren Room-Service. Fazit: hungrig ins Bett. Ebenfalls absolut nicht 5-Sterne-würdig. Minibar? Kühlte nicht. Wer warmes Bier oder Cola bevorzugt, wäre hier auf seine Kosten gekommen. Der Fernseher? Ein Witz. Senderwechsel bedeutete Gerät ausschalten und neu starten. Alle 30 Minuten hing das Bild – angeblich wegen des Internets. Einziger Lichtblick: das Frühstück und das freundliche Personal im Frühstücksbereich. Alles andere? Leider enttäuschend. Meine Frau wollte schon eine Leiter holen, um von den 5 Sternen zwei abzukratzen. Es wäre gerechtfertigt gewesen.

The Esplanade Zagreb is a beautiful historic hotel with friendly and professional staff, great customer service and all the amenities we needed. Rooms were clean,quiet, well-appointed, beds were comfortable and the location is perfect. The breakfast offerings were fabulous - lots of variety, well-prepared and delicious. We would highly recommend the Esplanade and look forward to returning again one day.

Not hospitable - would not recommend. We booked two non-refundable nights and were never informed that getting into Zagreb on our check-in day would be nearly impossible due to the city’s largest concert to date. As visitors from abroad, we had no idea. When we called to cancel, after our driver warned us we couldn’t get into the city, the hotel refused any flexibility. While we understand the booking was non-refundable, their dismissive response (“not our responsibility to inform guests”) was unacceptable. For a luxury hotel charging thousands of euros, we expected better service and basic hospitality.

With a hotel at the higher price range your expectations will be enhanced and this hotel delivers on wow factor in public areas and the beauty of the building in general so you can forgive a lot.|The location is very good and I had one of the best cocktails of our trip (but you’d expect it for the price).|A lovely quiet room that could do with a new carpet but the bed was extremely comfortable and we had one of the best sleeps of our trip.|Communication is poor. We had to ask four times for tea making facilities in our room (one in advance by email) and several times for a soiled linen headboard protector to be replaced - this was done on day two half way through our stay.|Some of the reception staff need training in dealing with customers - it’s one of those places where a few of the staff members (not all) have got that air of superiority that has mostly disappeared from top rated hotels today - it still lingers at The Esplanade.|There are a number of staff in the foyer to open the door and welcome guests but they were usually inside with the doors closed and were never there before we had struggled with it ourselves. None of this is acceptable for a hotel that appears to have more staff than guests.|However, this is a magnificent hotel and I would return - for the comfortable bed and quiet room alone and the prices are about right.

Für mich eins der schönsten Grand Hotels in Europa. Nicht zu groß und mit tollem Personal. Viele Originalgegenstände aus der Zeit des Orient Express und natürlich an den nötigen Luxus der heutigen Zeit angepasst. Tolles Erlebnis in zentraler Lage von Zagreb.
