Hello fellow readers, We stayed in this hostal for 3 nights, pictures are not according to the place, bathrooms are small and difficult to enter, there are only 2 showers and a bathroom 0,5 square meter toilet for idk (36+ people). It really is a flat with a bunch of bunk beds which are old and squeaky, almost had a guest fall on top of me because they aren’t stucked to the wall and move a lot, kitchen is too small to bear all those people. In my experience the lady running the hostal is a bit passive aggressive with the volunteers and guests, she tried to make us give her a good review and then in hostel world I wasn’t able to leave a review pretty odd…which made me uncomfortable and then when cleaning she didn’t really mind if you were using the bathroom or sleeping in the bunk beds she would burst in and do her things like no one was there, it felt like I was staying at someone’s house not as if I was paying for a hostal, which might be a cultural thing but I found pretty rude, the least you can do is knock or be careful… The best part of this hostal is the people I met and the view of the balcony but I wouldn’t do it again it seems over priced and over rated(had 9,6 on hostel world) I guess she gaslights all the guests as she tried with me. Also it’s a 4th floor with no lift 🤣

I sent a message that day telling him I arrived at 2 a.m. and sent the message at 9 p.m. He got off work at 10 p.m. At a little past 9, he sent me an email saying if you had already written the check-in time, there was no need to send it again. I arrived at 1:30 a.m., but when I rang the doorbell, no one answered. I called, but no one picked up. I couldn't find customer service until 3 a.m. Later, someone entered the building in the middle of the night, found the hotel, and knocked on the reception desk, but no one answered me. At 10 a.m. the next day, he told me he hadn't read my email because he had already gotten off work. Is everything you labeled just for show?

I had an amazing stay ! Big up to the staff, very welcoming and always happy to help. They made my stay at backpackers fairytale even more memorable with the little chats on the balcony, the advices and the great empanadas they let me taste :) If I ever come back to Split, this hostel is first on my list of places to stay ! Maybe we’ll meet again ✨

Loved staying here! The place was super clean, felt really safe, and everyone (from the staff to the other travelers) was super friendly. They do these family dinners that are such a great way to meet people and hang out. Chill vibes, great location, comfy beds… honestly couldn’t ask for more. I’d totally stay here again!

I love this place, i already come a few times and i enjoy coming back cause it feels like home. Staff always have great recommendation, the view from the balcony is extremely beautiful and the hostel is super safe and made for real travelers.

The pearl of Split!! Really amazing experience at this place, only a 5 minute walk from the centre and picturesque views from the terrace. Check in was super easy and Antea and her staff filled me in on all the best things to do and eat during my stay. They also host family style dinners which made it feel really homely. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Do not recommend! Location is extremely unsafe. Walking up the 4 flights of stairs, we were greeted with what looks like a hoarder house. There is clutter everywhere, a stinky smell, and beer bottles littering every surface. As a female traveler, I was quite concerned for my safety and immediately booked a room elsewhere.

As a female traveller this hostel is NOT SAFE. Firstly it was so hard to find because it was on the 4th floor of a sketchy apartment building. When you walk in you feel like your walking into someone’s apartment not a hostel, there’s no reception or signs for where you can find a receptionist. Reception said it opened at 8:30 but we felt like we had woken up the receptionist when we arrived. When we entered we were hit with a musty/moldy stench to the room. The room was cluttered and beer bottles/garbage on surfaces. The pictures on line do not correctly depict the state of the hostel. We instantly found a different place to stay.

This place is okay for spending a night or two if you are not too picky. The location is great with it being 5 minutes away from the city centre however the hostel itself is up about 6 flights of stairs and isn’t straight forward to find. It does offer a nice view from the balcony though. The main downsides to this hostel is that the lock on a few of the lockers were broken as well as the bedroom and bathrooms not have locks on them. This is the same on the apartment door and building door meaning that anybody could just walk into the hostel with nothing stopping them which isn’t ideal. Also there is only two bathrooms for quite 14+ people. I’d recommend staying elsewhere.

Back packers fairy tale, more like back packers nightmare……. We arrived at our destination slightly later than expected and were not informed by the staff the hostel that check in closes at 10pm despite emailing them our estimated arrival time hours before. Since we had no way of getting into the building we had to resort staying at another hostel for the night. We arrived the next day explaining our situation of not being able to access our rooms the night before and the staff were apologetic. However the owner still made us pay for additional night that we couldn’t stay for. Overall the atmosphere was nice. However our room smelt a bit off and two of the lockers didn’t lock properly.

20/10, it was twice better than my expectations. there is a really good mood, everybody is si sweat, nice and openminded. Robert even learns to us how to meditate (and we keep going to do it now !). best place, love you guys 🫶✨🫶

Staying at Backpackers Fairytale has been one of my best and most unique hostel experiences so far. It is ideally located just 10min from the Diocletian palace, with amenities close by, and is very clean and tidy. Most importantly, however, the hostel offers a truly familiar and inviting vibe, with guests and staff enjoying time together and friendships being made as a natural result. Nadia is a fantastic host with great knowledge of the places to visit, restaurants where to eat and full of other recommendations, besides just a wonderful human being. Highly recommend, 10/10 and I hope to be back soon

Great hostel! Host was friendly, bathrooms and common areas were clean. Easy to meet people when it's busy. Generally pretty laid back vibes so if you're looking for a party hostel this isn't it. Shout out to hosts Vanessa and Nadia, and volunteers Nathan, Nico, and Robbe (forgive any misspelled names!) for the card games, Catan, and conversations. Cheers!
