I went to Kranjska Gora on January 5 and 6 with my girlfriend, on the 5th at about 2 pm we rented a whole set of ski equipment for beginners (boots, skis, poles, pants and snow jacket) for 94 Euros that we managed to use for a lesson that same day from 3 to 4 pm (1 hour) unfortunately on the January 6th because of the weather the ski slopes were closed so we had to cancel the 2nd lesson agreed between 9 and 10 am, we requested a refund for the lesson without any problem, the problem came when I asked for the reimbursement of the equipment, of the 94 Euros paid, Mr. Roman (the Manager) said that for the clothes he can't reimburse me anything (which I can understand because they must be washed after each use even if it was used for an hour) but for the ski equipment he can only refund me 6 Euros per person, so I offered him to buy himself a coffee or a beer with that money... I think they could make an effort to understand the situation, I paid for equipment that I practically didn't use, a refund of 12 Euros for equipment that was used for only 1 hour seems to me an excellent way to insult and lose a client. Shout out to the other workers of that place because they where genuinely gently with us.

I always hire a bike from the guys at Sport Bernik when I'm on holiday in Kranjska Gora. The bikes are great (they appear to renew the pool of bikes annually so they're always up-to-date & fresh), and they're well-maintained, spotlessly clean & very reliable. They have bikes, eBikes & a tandem MTB on offer. (In winter, it caters to all of your skiing & ski-hire needs - but I can't comment on that as I'm purely a summer visitor) Hire prices are very competitive, and the check-in is swift (especially if you've hired from them before and are on their computer system). The staff are very friendly & knowledgeable, and they even forgave me for the accident I had in 2018 when I stupidly tried to drop down a gear under load & the chain jumped off the cassette & wedged firmly between it & the spokes. I was about 12 miles from Kranjska Gora, and a passing couple of Slovene hikers tried to help free the chain - unfortunately, they tried to force the pedals & bent/wrecked the rear derailleur. After a phone call, a van was sent to find me & swap bikes so I could continue my ride - a great service! On returning the bike later, I offered to pay for the repair as I felt responsible, and they graciously agreed to let me pay half. I mentioned the accident when I was hiring again in summer 2019, and they didn't hold it against me 😂 Mind you, it's the only time anything untoward has happened in over a decade of hires so I guess they know I'm trustworthy! Your hire includes a helmet & lock to keep you & the bike safe, and you can hire for a half-day or day (and longer hires can be arranged). They also offer organised group rides - see their website or the posters in the shop window for details of you fancy one of those. Top bikes, top staff & top service - give them a visit & tell them the Scotsman sent you!

My tubeless tires were running low on sealant after touring in Europe, so I was looking for a bike shop where I could work on my bike to top up the sealant levels. Found this professionally equipped shop when riding through Kranjska Gora and the staff (I think his name was Mateus if my memory serves me right) there was very welcoming and happy to offer me help in sorting it all out. It was a lucky chance to find such a place! Thank you for everything! Support your local bike shop!
