Her husband Mate ensures that the farm supplies the freshest ingredients. Their daughter Biljana, known for her enchanting desserts, crafts sweet delights that are infused with the natural aromas of local herbs. Ana, the eco-conscious farming enthusiast, dedicates her time to nurturing the land, guaranteeing that every dish served is fresh and sustainably sourced.

Konoba Mate ci è stato raccomandato dalla nostra padrona di casa e non possiamo esserle più grati! La Location è raffinata ma semplice, ci si sente subito accolti e coccolati: la ragazza che ci ha seguiti si chiama Mia, e l'esperienza ne è valsa la pena solo per lei. Il menu è chiaro e variegato, tipici piatti Croati ma anche rivisitazioni, prodotti locali top. Noi abbiamo optato per gli special del giorno quali: fichi con formaggio di capra e pancetta alla griglia, costine di agnello e come dessert mousse all'alloro. E ancora alici marinate, cheesecake e la pasta al finocchietto selvatico è stata superba! Mia ci ha guidati elegantemente verso la scelta del vino ed il tutto è stato perfetto. Quando tornerò a Kurcola verrò sicuramente al Konoba Mate, migliore cena degli ultimi tempi, non solo della vacanza.

We have been back to Mate after 3 years and were again surprised at how delicious the food is prepared here. The waiters were also very attentive and gave us good advice on our choice of dishes. We would love to come back!

The only place I found so far that deserves more than one review😊 There is not much more I can say about the food that was not already explained in my first review, but I would like to highlight and praise the people behind this special place. From the first moment of arriving, you are greeted with a smile and a true welcoming feeling. Waitress goes the extra mile in explaining the daily specialties they have, how the food is made, and what makes it so special. All of this shows the dedication of people working there, and the standards put in place by the people leading them. In the end you get food that in general is only with few basic ingredients but combined create something you wouldn't believe is possible to extract. Hopefully we'll be back again next year and share some more details 😊

Konoba Mate ima šarm i potencijal, s naglaskom na autentičnost i domaću atmosferu. Međutim, usporena usluga, neugodno visoka temperatura tijekom večeri i tehnički propust u pripremi pašticade ostavili su nas s mješovitim dojmovima. Ipak, vidimo da se iza svega krije iskrena namjera i domaći duh, pa se nadamo da će s vremenom ispeglati detalje.

Absolutely impressed from the starters to the dessert, and everything in between. Especially recommend mixed starters (težaška plitica) - it is a true food poetry, all the tastes of Dalmacija in one plate. The vibe feels like home, it has a nice garden and the waitress is warm and friendly, always there to help. Would love to come back next time we are here.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ein unvergesslicher Abend bei Konoba Mate – selbst ohne Strom ein Erlebnis! Wir hatten das große Glück, einen Abend in der Konoba Mate zu verbringen – und das trotz eines überraschenden Stromausfalls. Was viele Restaurants vor eine echte Herausforderung stellen würde, wurde hier mit Gelassenheit und Herz gemeistert. Die Küche arbeitete kurzerhand mit offener Flamme weiter, und das Ergebnis war einfach köstlich: Frisch gegrillter Fisch, hausgemachtes Brot, saisonaler Salat – alles auf den Punkt zubereitet und mit viel Liebe serviert. Das Ganze bei Kerzenschein, was dem Abend eine ganz besondere, fast magische Stimmung verlieh. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir die Kellnerin, die unglaublich freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich war. Trotz der schwierigen Umstände hat sie sich für jeden Gast Zeit genommen und eine wunderbare Atmosphäre geschaffen – so etwas erlebt man selten! Fazit: Konoba Mate überzeugt nicht nur mit gutem Essen, sondern auch mit echtem Engagement, Herzlichkeit und einem authentischen kroatischen Erlebnis. Wir kommen ganz sicher wieder – mit oder ohne Strom!
