One of the Worst Dining Experiences I’ve Ever Had – Completely Unacceptable! I rarely leave reviews on Google, but I feel genuinely compelled to write this after the absolutely shocking experience I had at this tavern. What was supposed to be a pleasant meal turned into one of the most uncomfortable and disappointing restaurant visits I’ve ever experienced — and I don’t say that lightly. From the very beginning, the atmosphere was tense and unwelcoming. The most jarring part of the evening was the appalling behavior of a blonde woman, who appeared to be the manager or owner. She was loudly berating her staff in front of a full restaurant, showing zero respect or professionalism. At one point, she even directed her aggressive tone at nearby guests — ourselves included — raising her voice and speaking in a rude, arrogant, and completely inappropriate manner. Instead of apologizing or diffusing the situation, she snapped at me that she would “do whatever she wanted” and stormed off into the kitchen, leaving us — and others — stunned. I’ve never witnessed such hostility from a staff member in a restaurant before, especially someone who is presumably in charge. What’s even more disturbing is that no one — not a single staff member — approached us afterward to acknowledge what happened, apologize, or check on how we were doing. We were left sitting at the table, completely ignored, as if we had done something wrong simply for being there. And unfortunately, the food didn’t redeem the experience in the slightest. The gnocchi were dry, bland, and frankly, didn’t even taste like real gnocchi. The meat was an even bigger disaster — unbelievably tough, nearly inedible, and clearly undercooked. We couldn’t eat it and ended up leaving most of it on the plate. No one noticed. No one cared. Not once did anyone come to ask if everything was okay or offer any assistance. Even basic things like grated cheese for the pasta were forgotten. We felt completely disregarded — not just as guests, but as human beings. The lack of hospitality, attention, and respect was astonishing, especially for a place that seems to take pride in its appearance and reputation. All in all, this was a deeply disappointing and frankly unacceptable experience. I would never return, and I strongly urge others to think twice before dining here. A beautiful location means nothing when the staff treats customers and employees with open hostility, and the food is subpar at best.

Istrian cuisine is a bit off the beaten track. It's not hard to find, but it's hard not to sample what it offers. If you step foot into this tavern, you'll be welcomed in a friendly, family-like manner. The staff will help you choose the right dish from the menu. Every dish will be delicious, truly satisfying your hunger and satisfying your expectations. It's a very pleasant place, worth visiting if you're in the area. This is the kind of experience you're looking for when you want to experience local cuisine.

Konoba Dolina is a hidden treasure for anyone who appreciates honest, traditional food made with love. Set in a peaceful, rustic location, it’s the perfect place to escape the crowds and enjoy the heart of Istrian hospitality. The menu is based on seasonal, local ingredients. Everything tastes fresh and homemade, just like grandma used to make. The staff are incredibly welcoming, you really feel like a guest, not just a customer. At the end of the meal they will offer you some local digestif, such as teranino or home made rakija travarica (great one!). The setting is cozy and down-to-earth, with beautiful countryside views. If you're looking for a real, down-to-earth Istrian konoba with soul, Dolina is absolutely worth the trip.
