Smetnjak je res nesrečno postavljen čisto poleg spomenika. Dobro je da so klopce tu. Bližina ceste ni dobra. Pomembno je da se spominjamo tega obdobja naše zgodovine.

The monument stands on the check point of the barb wire, which encircled the city of Ljubljana during Italian occupation in the second world war. All entries and exits from the city were strictly controlled, transforming the whole city in a concentration camp. Intention was to cut the city off the partizan resistance in the neighboring hills and forests. Barb wire was erected in January 1942, and was kept in place also by the Germans, who took over the city after Italian capitulation in 1943. The barb wire border area was transformed in a kind of recreational track, called "Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship", and there is traditional "March along the Wire" and running competition every 9th of May.
