Welcome to the Beli Visitor Centre
Nestled on the picturesque island of Cres, the Beli Visitor Centre serves as a vital hub for education and conservation around the magnificent griffon vultures. Initially a school building, this recently refurbished Centre now houses a multimedia exhibition that highlights both the ecology of griffon vultures and the local culture of the Tramuntana region.
Our Mission
The Beli Visitor Centre is dedicated to the protection of the last Croatian population of griffon vultures in the Kvarner area. Through collaboration with various partners and the establishment of ornithological reserves, the Centre plays a critical role in the conservation efforts surrounding these majestic birds.

Visitors to the Centre can engage in a variety of educational programmes, including workshops and volunteer opportunities that focus on wildlife conservation. Special events such as photo exhibitions also provide an enriching experience for participants of all ages.
Rescue Centre
The Centre features an integral Rescue Centre specifically for griffon vultures, dedicated to their rehabilitation and population monitoring. This facility not only supports the conservation of these birds but also serves as a living laboratory for visitors wishing to learn more about wildlife protection.

The Beli Visitor Centre is open throughout the year, with extended hours during the summer months. Our friendly staff is always ready to assist visitors in learning more about our initiatives and the importance of protecting the natural habitat of these remarkable creatures.

Es werden dort einheimische Geier beschrieben und auch nach Unfällen gepflegt . Tatzächlich haben wir 2 Tage später einen fliegen sehen in der freien Natur.

This Center is a fantastic place focused on the care and rehabilitation of injured griffon vultures - it is not a zoo! The staff is dedicated and knowledgeable, ensuring the well-being of these majestic birds. It’s an educational and inspiring experience, with a strong emphasis on wildlife conservation. We learnt a lot about the griffon vultures and the important work being done to protect them. Highly recommended for anyone interested in nature and wildlife!

Wer sich für Tierschutz interessiert, sollte diesen Ort unbedingt besuchen. Die zum Glück wenigen negativen Bewertungen, stimmen mich eher traurig – denn die Rettung und Pflege dieser Tiere ist eine große Herausforderung und erfordert sowohl Engagement als auch finanzielle Unterstützung. Wir kamen mit der Hoffnung, Gänsegeier zu sehen – erfuhren aber vor Ort, dass diese gerade flügge geworden und ausgewildert worden waren. Wer gezielt wegen der Gänsegeier kommt, sollte vorher am besten kurz Kontakt aufnehmen. Die Ausstellung selbst fanden wir sehr informativ und liebevoll gestaltet. Auch unsere Tochter war begeistert und konnte viel mitnehmen. Kenntnisse in Englisch sind hilfreich. Ein großes Dankeschön an das gesamte Team für euren wichtigen Einsatz!

It's a really small museum (2 rooms and a small hall covered with printed pictures of the animals that habitat Cres). They don't t have any griffons there on recovery for now so it's just basic information about them on printed sheets that cover up the walls. It definitely doesn't justify the entrance fee. Too expensive for what is offered there. Souvenir shop is not open at 2pm (I think it's not open at all) so we had to go up hill to the restaurant near by to buy something for our kid. Also,parking is around 100m before the centre so you have to walk up hill to reach it. And if it's a hot day,enjoy. I don't know, it's nice but I wouldn't recommend going there unless you know they have some birds in recovery at that point. They are magnificent to see in person so the trip there and the fee would be worth it. Otherwise..

Das Besucherzentrum war zwar geöffnet und wir konnten die beiden Räume anschauen, allerdings war der Zugang zu den Tieren nicht möglich. Trotzdem den vollen Eintrittspreis zu verlängern, ist eine Frechheit.😡

Zaposlenici centra na zanimljiv način prezentiraju svoj rad, jako su informativni, ljubazni i predani zaštiti bjeloglavih supova. Također se trude upoznati vas sa posebnostima mjesta Beli i samog otoka. Vožnja do Belog također je svojevrstan doživljaj. Cesta s pogledom i mirisom kadulje i smilja.

Svakako preporuke za sve posjetitelje Cresa. Put do mjesta je izazovniji za početnike u vožnji, ali put se zaista isplati. Volonteri su izrazito ljubazni i pristupačni, a sami centar je informativan ne samo po pitanju supova, već i drugih ptica creskog kraja, kao i po pitanju same povijesti Cresa. Imali smo prilike vidjeti same supove u skloništu, a ako se odlučite posjetiti samo napomena da se trenutno ulaznice mogu platiti isključivo gotovinom.
