Service Overview of Elektroistok

Established in 1958, Elektroistok has evolved into a significant player in the electric power sector of Serbia. Originally founded on St. Vitus Day, the company was built on the foundations set forth by the Executive Council of the People's Republic of Serbia, focusing on the transmission of electricity across the region.

Foundational Years

The development pace accelerated in the late 1950s as the demand for electricity surged, spurred by the nation’s post-war reconstruction and industrial growth. This led to the diversification of Elektroistok's activities, which expanded to designing and constructing power facilities, culminating in the establishment of "Elektroistok -Projektni biro" Ltd.

Historical Milestones

Elektroistok's contributions date back to 1902, with the first power-consumer system created between HE Vučje and Leskovac. After a series of planned constructions initiated in the early 1950s, a network of transmission lines and substations at 110 kV emerged, crucial for the efficient delivery of electricity. The passage of the Law on Electric Power Industry Organizations in 1957 was pivotal in shaping the future of the electricity sector.

Infrastructure Development

By June 28, 1958, Elektroistok officially became a designated entity for electricity transmission within Serbia's interconnected power grid. This network encompassed all transmission lines and substations rated at 110 kV and above, effectively creating an integrated body within the electric power industry. Initially, the firm had a modest team consisting of seven engineers and 320 employees.

Evolution and Growth

The organization saw significant changes from 1960 to 1962, responding to the expanding transmission network. This period marked the creation of four drive gears located in Srbobran, Valjevo, and Kruševac, along with design and construction facilities in Belgrade and Niš.

Continued Advancements

Over the years, the design operations within Elektroistok have undergone transformations, including the separation of the project office from the main company in the late 1980s. By 2005, anew structure emerged with the establishment of “Elektroistok -Projektni biro” Ltd., a specialized firm focusing on design, consulting, and engineering for power and telecommunication systems, which began operations on July 1, 2005.
