It’s a pretty steep walk up to the castle and the castle itself is pretty and the view down to the city is also quite nice. It’s not a must do but if you have some spare time its a nice spot to hang out.

Bellissimo castello molto ben conservato che racchiude tre ricostruzioni dello stesso lungo i secoli. Vi consiglio vivamente di effettuare la Time machine guide, visita guidata con comparse in costumi d'epoca che raccontano la storia e aneddoti divertenti, al costo di 13 euro..Aggiungendo 5 euro si può fare l Escape Castle, gioco di ruolo con 5 indizi per scoprire altri dettagli . Museo dei pupazzi compreso nel biglietto un po' deludente, qualche meccanismo era rotto.

the staff was very helpful to us, the castle in itself offers many exhibits which, even if not much interactive (may result in boredom for children), do a lot to enhance the castle's beauty and slovenian culture. we also found the wide lockers and student discount very accomodating.

It's a beautiful castle but with all the cafes, clubs and stages set up in the courtyard it loses its historical charm and looks quite commercialised. It's worth visiting from the outside in the surrounding park and it's great you can go up with a funicular (about 2€ price).
