Rating: 2 out of 5 — Poor value, unprofessional service, and safety concerns
I stayed at a Sun Spalato apartment and would not recommend it. My rating reflects three major issues: misleading presentation, poor location and infrastructure, and a truly disappointing service experience.
1. Misleading advertising:
The photos of the apartment were clearly edited to make the place look much fresher and newer than it actually is. While the condition wasn’t terrible, it certainly didn’t match expectations. The apartment felt worn and lacked the polished, vibrant look presented in the listing. This kind of deceptive marketing is unacceptable — especially when trying to build trust and encourage return customers.
2. Poor location and surrounding conditions:
The area around the apartment was not maintained — rubbish was literally on the road just in front of the parking area. Speaking of which, the parking isn’t even covered. During a hailstorm, the main gate fell onto the road — fortunately not on my car, but it easily could have. This was a clear safety hazard and points to neglected maintenance of basic infrastructure.
3. Absolutely unacceptable service (1 out of 5):
Before checking in, I inspected the apartment for damages to avoid being blamed later — and I noticed the balcony window wasn’t closing properly. I reported it immediately. Initially, the response was reasonable: they asked me to double-check, which I did. Then, they agreed to send maintenance.
Here’s where it gets ridiculous:
Instead of sending someone properly equipped, they emailed me a video showing how to close the window — as if I didn’t know how a window is supposed to function. They acted like I was too incompetent to operate it. When their staff finally came, they literally pulled up that same video and tried to use it to “fix” the problem. It obviously didn’t help.
Eventually, I accepted the situation and asked them to fix it after our checkout. But on the day we were leaving, there was a severe hailstorm, and guess what happens when your window doesn’t close? Exactly — the flat began flooding. Instead of moving my car to safety, I had to hold the window shut with my own hands to stop the rain from soaking everything.
And remember that fallen gate during the hailstorm? This was all happening around 9 AM, and we were scheduled to leave at 10 to get on a ferry. I asked the staff to come and remove the gate so we could get out without being drenched. Instead, they sent me instructions for how the gate is supposed to work — if it weren’t broken. Imagine being a 50kg woman trying to move that heavy gate alone in a storm. Luckily, I’m a 110kg powerlifter — but that’s not the point. I also asked them to call me, and they refused.
This is not just bad service — it’s a complete failure of responsibility. Their handling of the situation was negligent, unprofessional, and shockingly indifferent. If you value your time, money, and sanity, I strongly advise staying far away from this agency and its properties.
