Overpriced full coverage with no real alternative I rented a car from Carwiz at Split Airport. Upon arrival, I was offered full coverage for €200 for 5 days, . The alternative? Minimal insurance that would leave me exposed to charges of hundreds of euros for the slightest scratch. Let’s be honest — this isn’t a real choice. It’s a system designed to push customers into paying out of fear. To be clear: the staff was polite and professional. My issue is not with the employees, but with the company’s pricing model and lack of transparency. What’s legal isn’t always ethical. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for your reply. I understand that the insurance information might be available in the rental documents, but let’s be honest: most customers don’t arrive at the counter having read every clause in the fine print—and that’s something you’re fully aware of. That’s why I believe the whole system relies on partial information and last-minute pressure. In previous rentals with other companies, full coverage had a reasonable cost and there were clear options, not simply: “Pay €200 or take the risk.” In this case, the alternatives were so unbalanced that it wasn’t really a choice — it was surrender. Believe me, after this experience I won’t take anything for granted again. But that doesn’t change the fact that the structure of this process is neither transparent nor ethical. Best regards,

Rented a car from split airport, cannot find a fault with my experience of dealing with them. Arrived at the airport at 10pm, we were the only people collecting a car at the time. The person at the counter was helpful and we had our car which appeared to be an upgrade from what I had booked (Suzuki Vitara Hybrid 2025 with 6,000km mileage) which was spotlessly clean, we were driving out of the airport within 15mins. When we arrived back, an employee was at the same location and did a 2 min check on the car, a €10 fee was charged to my card for the cleaning. But the only thing you must be aware of is that you need a CREDIT CARD NOT A DEBIT CARD. I got 1 before I left Ireland as I was in contact with them and was informed that I would have to purchase their insurance which was coming to €488.80 for the 12 day rental to get the car on Debit Card. Overall a very good experience, found the 2 employees I dealt with very helpful would recommend.

What a scam of a car hire company…do not hire from them. Made a reservation through booking.com and had to pay an extra €400 (more than the entire original booking) on pick up as I didn’t have a credit card in my name. I had cash, debit card and my partners credit card but none of these were acceptable. It was late, I had a baby so no other option but to pay and there were two other couples in the office having the same issue. Total scammers

Vorsicht bei diesem Anbieter! Versteckte Kosten werden nicht offen kommuniziert. Autowäsche wurde berechnet obwohl das Auto vor der Abgabe gereinigt wurde. Tankfüllung wurde nicht korrekt berechnet. Auto war im sehr schlechten Zustand. Im Nachhinein ist eine Klärung nicht möglich. Antwort kommt nach wiederholten Nachfragen oder kommt überhaupt nicht. Abzocke!

Nous avions prit une réservation pour la journée et je pense que c’est ce qui nous a sauvé. En effet pour la caution qui s’élève à 1400€ vous devez avoir une carte de crédit hors en France nous avons quasiment tous des cartes de débit avec lesquelles ils ne peuvent pas prélever la caution 🤷♀️ ils ont donc prélever 200€ sur notre carte qui équivaut à l’assurance qui nous a été restitué à la clôture de la location. Prévoyez 10€ en plus pour des frais de ménage. Et attendez vous à devoir payer dans tous les cas un surplus d’assurance. Pour une journée cela allait mais je ne vous conseille pas de louer une voiture pour une plus longue période.

Abzocke und ein Auto bekommen was garnicht Verkehrssicher mehr war Reifen haben kein Profil mehr, waren komplett glatt und es wurde uns ein anderes Auto geben als was in der Reservierung stand und als bessere Klasse verkauft. Gebühr für das übertreten der Grenze nach Bosnien wurde uns mehr berechnet als bei anderen Auto Vermietungen. Nie wieder Carwiz totalle Katastrophe

I rented an SUV from Carwiz for my family of four through DiscoverCars, without any extended insurance. I also declined extra coverage at the Carwiz desk, so a €1,800 deposit was taken from my credit card. The process was smooth—they emailed the rental contract and gave us the car keys promptly. I documented a few existing but undocumented scratches and submitted the photos online. In the end, I got my full deposit back and was only charged €10 for cleaning. Overall, a reliable car rental service with affordable prices.
